I think it is perception as well as reality on this one too. My name is rare and has come up a lot on this thread.

I have known one other. But I've also 'bumped into' about three others over my life time. Because it was my name, bumping into them stayed with me. But if it hadn't been my name, I suspect it wouldn't have registered and I would be reading this thread thinking 'I've only ever met one X'

Does that make sense?

Cheney, only met one and that's me. It's one of those names that if it's written down, no one knows how to pronounce it and if they hear it, no one knows how to spell it. It's Shhh-nay in case anyone's wondering
