Heard a Jane being summoned in the park today. Pretty little blonde thing on a scooter. She wore it well....

It's a pretty good name, right?

Yes and should be due a comeback soon I'd say, very good name indeed.

OutragedFromLeeds · 09/08/2013 23:10

There's nothing wrong with it, but there are so many other nicer names I'd have to have about 1000 DDs before I used it....

cece · 09/08/2013 23:12

It is an excellent name. I would have used it myself but my mother beat me to it.

squoosh · 09/08/2013 23:13

It is very pretty in its simplicity.....but somehow it doesn't seem special enough for me. It will have a huge comeback at some stage.

RhondaJean · 09/08/2013 23:15

You tend to associate names with people you knew..

Jane was the smelly kid in my class Blush

I liked her a lot but when I met her five years after school she had several kids in buggies and alopecia. I couldn't name a child Jane.

I hope she is healthy and happy now, she was a nice girl and deserves to be.

comedaygoday · 09/08/2013 23:16

I really like it. I think it would stand out (in a good way) against the very frilly girl's names that are popular now.

LauraChant · 09/08/2013 23:19

Funnily enough DH and I were just saying you don't come across many baby Janes today. Possibly due to Baby Jane.

This discussion was started because I was talking about "Jane who went to my college". "What, Goth Jane?" "No." "Sporty Jane?" "No, she was Jayne". "Preppy Jane?". "No, mad Jane!" "Mad Jane who..."
"No, the other mad Jane."

rubyrubywoo · 10/08/2013 08:43

Love Jane - very biased though, its been used in 3 generations of my family.

extracrunchy · 10/08/2013 08:45

I like it! Pretty and simple - refreshing! And good for when she's growing up and looking for jobs and stuff too... And unusual nowadays!

noddyholder · 10/08/2013 08:48

Sweet. Although not sure what good it will do looking for jobs!

Janie is prettier. Jane is about plain.

Rhubarbgarden · 10/08/2013 09:18

I love it. You don't get many Annes to the dozen now either and that's another beautiful, simple name.

WeAll · 10/08/2013 09:21

Jane is really nice.

PigOnStilts · 10/08/2013 09:25

I just think there's a 1959s, 1960s vibe about it, and think people should love it!

MortifiedAdams · 10/08/2013 09:31

It is like Rose - makes a bleurgh middle name but a brilliant first name.

nurseneedshelp · 10/08/2013 09:32

Plain jane

whyno · 10/08/2013 10:26

Ooh love it! If I hadn't already decided, this would sway me!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 10/08/2013 11:25

Simple, unfussy, appealing. Know two over 50 and one under 20. Stands out nowadays as quite novel, funny how fashions change.

NotYoMomma · 10/08/2013 11:46

I just think it is so dull I can't get over plain Jane.

plus the Jane I knew at school was always trying to make it cooler or dress it up.

she was
Jane
Jaine

Jayne
jaynie
Jaynie-May

Choccywoccydodah · 10/08/2013 11:50

Jane was my Nanas name and the name I plan to use as a middle name if we have a girl next time. I don't think I would use it as a first name personally as I prefer others, but I think it is a very pretty name Smile

thegreylady · 10/08/2013 12:43

"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" Does anyone else remember that Bette Davis/Joan Crawford film?
I love the name Jane.

extracrunchy · 10/08/2013 19:46

Haha I didn't mean it'll get her a job - just meant Jane Smith is likely to be taken more seriously that Tallulah-Bliss Smith, if you know what I mean...

noddyholder · 10/08/2013 20:06

Don't be silly.

KateCroydon · 10/08/2013 20:18
