Uncommon but 'normal' names

Sorry, I couldn't think of a better title (not sure uncommon or normal are the right words?!).

Anyway, linked to another thread about unusual names not being that unusual as we all have the same ideas - got me thinking of names that are unusual in that they are not that common /popular at the moment but are names that are 'normal', not faddy, not frilly, not made up, etc.

For example:
Erica
Nicole
Natalie

Justin
Gareth
Neil

To me these are all relatively nice names but I can't ever remember seeing them mentioned on MN (whether in a positive or negative vein) nor know of hardly any in RL.

Just wondered if you can think of other names that might fall into this category?

I was thinking about this today, you don't meet very many baby Richards at the moment.

Diana
Miles
Graeme
Keith

My name Gaynor is normal but uncommon. Can never get the usual personalised tat items like mugs, pens etc with my name on it. It's not frilly either.

Amiee · 09/08/2013 16:28

Jonathan is unusual these days.

Sorry Foof, but don't think Jessica counts. I know lots under 10.

Luke seems quite unusual at the moment. Lukas and Luca are 10 a penny, but Luke seems to be fairly uncommon.

Emma is another name I haven't heard recently.

Yika · 09/08/2013 16:55

Simon. Mark. Julian. Adrian. Darius.

Simone. Elise. Rosemary. Catriona. Cassandra.

I think some of those mentioned are perhaps not heard of much these days as they are from a certain generation and would seem dated (but not cool, granny chic dated!). For example, I went to school (in the 80's) with lots of Richards, Stevens, Claires and Sarah's.

However, names like Natasha, Simone, Dominic and Jonathan (as mentioned above) to me are not generational and are all lovely names yet rarely heard of.
It is these sorts of names I was referring to.

Another couple which I really like are Anthony and Christian.

Ann, Diana, Caroline, Alison, Karen, Tanya, Carol, Rosemary.
Roger, Harold, Frank, Vincent, Marcus, Tony, Roald, Christopher.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/08/2013 17:10

Rebecca, Deborah, Christine, Joanne, Karen, Jane.
Paul, Michael, Jonathan, Anthony, David, Mark.

I went to school with a few of each of these, all decent names but I've never heard of babies being given any of these names for years.
