Joshua or Axel?

hi all, please can I have your opinion on either:
Joshua Max (max being middle name), or
Axel James

Joshua is nicest. Joshua Max is a lovely boys name

Axel puts me in mind of a car spare part, or that bleddy frog...

I love Joshua but with James. Then gives the 'JJ' option as well.

Joshua. Regret not calling DS Joshua actually! Axel just makes me think Axel Rose. Bit grubby!

Dont really like Axel but definately dont like Joshua. Max and James are lovely though how about these as a first name?

Definitely Joshua. Axel just isn't my cup of tea...tbh I agree that it sounds like a mechanic or wanabee rockstar xx

I prefer Joshua over Axel. James is a fantastic name and I think Joshua James has a lovely ring to it!

I like Axl, without the e. Not keen on Joshua at all for some reason I can't identify. Think possibly as so many friends had a Joshua in the early 90s that it just sounds a bit dated to my ear.

It's like you've read my mind OP! DS1 is Joshua and I'm working on DH to agree to axel if we ever have DS3! Both are great names

Axel is a great name and more interesting and less widely used than Joshua, which I don't like, sorry.

Be aware that Joshua Will become Josh. I have 3 teenage Joshua s in my tutor group and all 3 are known as Josh (I often call them Joshua, however, because it sounds nice!).

AXEL is the most wonderful name! My son is called Axel. We live in Scotland and get a lot of positive feedback (I know people are perhaps not as honest in real life as in the posts above... :) ) Seriously, I have never regretted giving him that name and it suits him so well. It's very common in Sweden, top 20 at least. I don't know what your surname is but may I suggest Axel Joshua? I think it has a good ring to it.
