Love Clementine Theodora for a shorter version, how about Clemence Theodora?

Or Hebe Theodora Clementine.

Not keen on Dulcie at all. Sorry.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 07/08/2013 10:26

Yes, Dulcie Theodora is lovely. I think you should go for it.

Disclaimer - each of my dc have 3 middle names and I didn't and don't give a toss that this is not The Done Thing. :o

Keztrel · 07/08/2013 16:08

Dulcie is lovely! Also love Theodora and Clementine, and all three in any combination are great.

alicetrefusis · 07/08/2013 16:38

No. I'm afraid it reminds me of Hinge and Bracket. Sorry OP.

Clementine-Theodora. Clemmy-Dor.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 16:52

Eh?!

Clemmy-door WTAF?

I'm not even proposing to use clementine and Theodora together Hmm

Hebe is lovely.

I wouldnt stress about middle names too much. You never use them in real life anyway.

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 17:01

Hebe is lovely. Clementine is also nice, but not together.

Theodora and Dulcie are dire, and the combinations do not work, especially with a double-barrelled name.

Iris is nice.

Hebe Margo is ok.

Hebe Edith might work Smile

TheRealFellatio · 07/08/2013 17:02

I like them all except Dulcie. I think Dulcie is awful, sorry.

BigBongTheory · 07/08/2013 18:31

I find Dulcie really unattractive sounding and don't get why people on love itmso much. DD's name often has the same said about it tbf and it's on this page :).

All of the others are nice but Hebe Theodora sounds harsh to my ear and a bit repetitive dorsome reason. I like Hebe Clementine.

TheRealFellatio · 07/08/2013 18:39

I do too BigBong It always conjures up an image of a loud fishwife with a hacking smoker's cough to me. Grin

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 19:29

Yeah, well I also love Myrtle and Mildred so I obviously like the dusty/fishwife sort of names Wink

Currently falling in love again with Ivy...it was on our list last time (but DC2 was DS)
I'm due in December....to twee?

OP posts:
Laquila · 07/08/2013 19:36

I don't dislike Ivy, and don't particularly think it's twee, but for me it always makes me think of evil Ivy Brennan in Corrie, and certainly if I used it that would be the first comment from every single member of my extended Mancunian family Hmm

Do you like Hebe Dorothea?

BeehavingBaby · 07/08/2013 19:37

Hebe is such a prosaic plant is the problem for me, more of a shrub? Love dulce and ivy :)

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 19:51

I have never, ever, seen corrie,or east enders or any other intentionally depressing soap operas. thank god So I don't particularly care about characters therein Wink

No,not hugely keen on Dorothea....which is odd I suppose.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 19:53

Girls names are doing my head in...I might move on to boys names for a bit....seeing as the baby refused to perform for the camera and is only 'probably' a girl Hmm

OP posts:
GlaikitFizzog · 07/08/2013 19:58

Ivy lovely. Ivy hasn't been in corrie for about 20 years. Wouldn't worry about it. I like the winter association.

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 20:11

Hebe Myrtle would be really sweet Smile
Ivy Clementine also lovely

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 20:12

Iris Theodora sounds ok to my ear too Smile

teatimesthree · 07/08/2013 20:21

Hebe is great. Strong, versatile.

I agree with whoever said Dulcie was wet. It is a very 'girly' name, and what if she isn't?

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/08/2013 20:28

I like all of those names. I prefer Dulcie and I think it goes with either middle name. If I had to pick one I would go with Dulcie Theodora. You rarely say someone's whole name together so I don't think it matters having a long middle name and double barrelled surname.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 20:35

I don't think of Dulcie as girly at all....I'm not at all girly, though DD1 is...so I know it's not a genetic thing Grin

OP posts:
oohdaddypig · 07/08/2013 20:36

I like Hebe. I like Theodora. Clementine mmm yes maybe.

But if you combine any of these I think it sounds...pretentious? Perhaps a bit affected?

But I like quite plain things and plain names so who gives a hoot as to my bollocks opinion.

But Dulcie is truly awful. "Dulcet" tones. It just sounds a bit vomit like. Sorry OP.

Hebe. that's lovely. Hebe Jane. A nice plain middle name to offset the flowery first one.

I think two flowery OTT names spoil each other. Bit like having strawberry and chocolate at the same time....

Christ, I'm rambling. Long day.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 20:38

Strawberry and chocolate are Luffley together Grin

LongTailedTit · 07/08/2013 21:17

This thread has been rather enlightening! MILs middle name was Dulcie so it's a strong contender for DC2 if its a girl. I'd never heard it before, and I still hear 'dull' when it's spoken. Hmmmmm!

OP I'd go for Hebe or Ivy as a first name - especially as you have a long surname.
Margot is lovely for a mn, I don't dislike any of your other names, just find them a bit long.

MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 07/08/2013 21:39

Yy to Hebe Myrtle.
