I like Hebe Theodora :)

Also love clementine.

I agree they possibly do seem a bit of a mouthful together but actually when saying them put loud they sound fine :)

I like old lady named as well, what about Hebe violet?

My dad is merryn (you knew that already!) Middle names Lola Eden. Do wanted Lola, I wanted Eden.

I like Edith and Esme and Felicity. I also like Bonnie, if I ever have another and its a girl bonnie is on my list.

Seriously Frigg you have to choose what you like, mnet doesn't like all my kids names either, men they get lots of lovely positive comments in RL. And WE like them!

Seren? Means star, might be sufficiently 'nature-y' for your DP.

Aster also means star as well as being a plant.

or what about Astrid?

Dulcie doesn't really do it for me but I love the other three, in all combos. In fact Theodora would be on our list if it didn't sound weird with our surname. (Althea is a current frontrunner for us though.)

I'm prob not as keen on Dulcie as I don't really like giving nicknames, or what sound like nicknames, as birth cert names.

I'm intrigued as to what people mean when they describe such names as "trying too hard" - trying too hard to what? To choose an unusual name?

Theodora and Clementine are nice, the other two aren't. Although I prefer Thea.

Definitely Hebe Theodora.

Love Dulcie, not at all keen on Hebe. I'd also use a shorter middle name, especially with a double barrelled surname.

I think Dulcie Pearl or Dulcie Iris are lovely.

I know someone who has a hebe Theodora, and she has a double barrelled surname! I love it :)

Leonidas

We used a few of them.

Girls: Nova, Arielle, Eira, Thalia, Estelle

Kiki how very odd!! I mean, there aren't many Hebe's about...let alone with the same mn and a double barreled surname!

Forever Alot of those were on the list at some point, all discounted for various reasons Sad they're all lovely though.

This thread seems totally split, everyone either hates both,or much prefers one over the other...I obviously like very marmite names.... Grin

Dulcie Theodora, like Dulcie much more than Hebe.

Hebe Theodora. Hebe has the ie/y sound without being cutesy like Dulcie is and isn't that common or that way out at least not where I live and Theodora is perfectly sensible as a middle name.

Margo(t) Clementine?

I think you need to take into account how popular Phoebe is, if you go with Hebe. DD has a name that rhymes with a v popular name and it makes me Angry when I hear it being called in parks etc.

If DP like nature names what about Marnie? Derivative of Marina (sea), yet a bit retro for you.

I don't like Hebe. But the others are good. Dulcie Clementine is growing on me. I quite like it.

I think the middle names are fine. I would use either one of those as the first name. Theodora is gorgeous. Clementine is sweet. But a fruit. which may or may not be annoying for your daughter. Clem is a nice nick name though. There is the French name Clemence. I think Dulcie Clementine sounds a bit like a dessert in a fancy restaurant - sorry. How about Annabel, Elodie, Claudia, Victoria, Raphaelle, Cristine, Cristina, Amélie, Alexandra, Maeve, Theresa, Catriona, Clara, Sabrina, Stella, Léonie, Charlotte, Bethany, Bryony...

I think you can basically pick whatever you want as a middle name, Even if other people or even your child think its terrible thats the whole point in middle names. So if you went Theodora (first name) Hebe/Dulcie (middle name) or Clementie (first name) Hebe/Dulcie (middle name) (still the sounding like a dessert issue tho) then you'll be fine.

Or go simpler for middle names e.g. Hebe Louise, Dulcie Claire. But I really think the middle names Theodora and Clementine are much nicer than Hebe and Dulcie.

I'm all for an unusual name but Hebe and Dulcie are...too much.

Theodora or Clementine with either Hebe or Dulcie those as a middle I could get behind. But I think both your first name choices could be difficult to carry off for the average little girl.

I love the name Clementine, my mum wanted it for me but DF put his foot down, I wanted it for all 3 of my DD's but DP was completely unconvinced. I like Dulcie, except it reminds me of the shoe shop (although probably only because I worked there as a teen)

Could you have Clementine Dulcie? Wink

For some reason Hebe always sounds like a male name to me, and with Theodora too...

Doesn't sound 'try hard' to me either, personally I couldn't give a faff what people call their kids but I never get why its ok to be a reverse snob, but not a snob! its basically the same thing hate mail judgey

As I have said at least twice on this thread,we do not want to have a long first name because our surname is too long.
Also,I don't like any of those names. My name is Louise and I hate it. Its boring, for a start.
DP has a very unusual (and feminine)name and he's always got on just fine with it,he likes it.
I've never heard of the shoe shop...hmmm....

The shoe shop was Dolcis but mostly pronounced Dulcie.

I like Hebe and Dulcie, know a little girl called Dulcie and it is sweet. I think I prefer Theodora as a MN though.

Thanks Scone

At the moment I still love Dulcie Theodora but DP prefers Hebe.
