I'm 25 weeks pregnant I believe with a little girl. What are people's thoughts on Nancy or Sadie? I love them but are they 'common' where you are? Any preferences? Thanks :)

Neither are common here in Plymouth. I love Nancy and Sadie is ok too.

Any middle name?

I know a nancie and I love it, not sure about sadie.

Oubliette0292 · 05/08/2013 20:26

I love Sadie (and don't know any). I like Nancy too, but can think of 3 little girls with this name.

chattychattyboomba · 05/08/2013 20:27

Nancy... That's what you call someone who is a bit of a wimp.
I.e. 'she's a bit if a Nancy'
Sadie...can't help but think 'Sadie the cleaning lady'...
If they didn't have that association attached i would go for Sadie.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 05/08/2013 20:28

Nancy is more popular than Sadie, they're both lovely but i think I prefer Sadie Smile

Kyz · 05/08/2013 20:30

Patchouli · 05/08/2013 20:33

Nancy

OneStepCloser · 05/08/2013 20:37

Oh now that's a difficult one for me as they were both the names I was going to use for my last dc, who became DS Grin both family names but I could never decide on which one. Sorry, no help am I, but whichever one you use they're both lovely Smile

TallulahBetty · 05/08/2013 20:44

Sadie, definitely. Not keen on Nancy. Don't know anyone with either name (West Mids).

BeehavingBaby · 05/08/2013 20:44

I have a Nancy, it is not common but not surprising around here, I know 2 others I think and it is often complimented. I regret not giving a 'proper' name on her birth certificate eg Anne/a, Agnes, Nanette or spelling it the Welsh way. Also I feel a bit braying when shouting it at the park, but I do love the name, it is family and it suits her perfectly.

BeehavingBaby · 05/08/2013 20:46

I think I prefer Sadie! I like 3 syllable middle names for Nancy and snappy 2 syllable middle names for Sadie.

agendabender · 05/08/2013 21:08

Nancy! She could be a pirate when she grew up! Just don't give her the middle name "Ruth," because pirates have to be ruthless, don't you know?

Ldarrington · 05/08/2013 21:14

Haha! Oh this is hard didn't expect such an even split!!! Can't separate them!

Love them both. Nancy goes my vote ahead of Sadie, just.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 05/08/2013 21:42

Nancy is my favourite

JambalayaCodfishPie · 05/08/2013 21:47

I have a Nancy.

Doesn't suit her in the slightest, I'm hoping she grows into it. Grin

When she was born last year, everyone said how they didn't know aaaaany.

Then I met another in the Drs, and an acquaintance of DPs stole it for their DD. Harumph.

AcrylicPlexiglass · 05/08/2013 21:48

Nancy is one of my favourite names. Made my shortlist a few years ago when I had my youngest. I do quite like Sadie too but it was never a contender for my daughter. I haven't met any young Sadies or Nancies round these parts.

oohdaddypig · 05/08/2013 21:53

I like nancy but makes me think of Oliver twist's nancy - and wasn't she a prostitute.... Not that it matters but its an odd association in my head.

I think it's lovely but more of a nickname and needs a longer full name.

I know of two lovely nancies.

Not sure about sadie - initially thought I didn't like it but actually it's a lovely name and unusual...

MadameJosephine · 05/08/2013 22:07

Love Sadie

Poppanicolino · 05/08/2013 22:11

I have a cousin Nancy and I love it. Really not keen on Sadie.

formicadinosaur · 06/08/2013 08:52

Nancy is stunning and classic. Also Betsy. I'd imagine a lovely girl.

Sadie is a bit rough and tartie.
