I wouldn't call those different, they are fairly normal baby names at the moment I would say!

SoupDragon · 03/08/2013 12:13

The only one I've not heard attached to a child before from your list is Nelson.

Ooh I know a baby Reef (well, he'd be about 2 now). There can't be many about.

soontobeslendergirl · 03/08/2013 13:12

Pricilla - I kid you not!

SavoyCabbage · 03/08/2013 13:17

Like coral Reef? I've never heard that before.

I get to see a couple of hundred children's namesake day from my job. My favourite so far is Bear.

thegreylady · 03/08/2013 13:26

The only slightly diggerent names I heard were Marja [p Marya] and Rafaella. The first was Finnish but I'm not sure about the second.

thegreylady · 03/08/2013 13:26

different!

kerala · 03/08/2013 14:56

I heard Wolfie which was quite out there I thought but not in a bad way. The mum looked like alot of fun actually good for her get so bored of all the Bens/Toms/Jacks.

muppetthecow · 03/08/2013 15:02

We seem to have a fairly high percentage of different names around here. Over the past few months I've met a Hedge, twin girls called Luna and Ocean, Loki, Quatermaine, Reinebeau (I kid you not, that's how they spell it! Confused) and Tulip.
When I pointed out to DH that I didn't think Apollo was a great name for our impending DC2 because he's likely get picked on for it, his response was "Not around here he wouldn't..."

Turniptwirl · 03/08/2013 15:50

Stanley is the oddest I've heard. I'm all for granny chic but Stanley? Really?

sonlypuppyfat · 03/08/2013 15:53

My DS went to nursery with a Reef and he had a brother called Cavern. Worse name I ever heard was Nirvana. I was introduced to a baby Stanley once, I am not a very good actress Blush

sonlypuppyfat · 03/08/2013 16:06

Oh and I know an Ocean

WillYouDoTheFandango · 03/08/2013 16:12

I met a Leaf (Lief?) and a Tuesday brother/sister combo.

sonlypuppyfat · 03/08/2013 16:15

When I was a young teenager we all used to fancy Lief Garrett

steppemum · 03/08/2013 22:34

we have a fried with a son Stanley, it is really cute actually (but not one I would choose myself

sleepingbeautiful · 04/08/2013 04:28

In baby/toddler groups recently I have met some little ones with what I think are unusual names - Corbin, Anastasia, Frank, Anderson, Jazzlyn, Desmond (x2!), Cecilia, Genevieve, Spencer and ...Wyatt?!

exoticfruits · 04/08/2013 05:49

Boudicca.

fanjodisfunction · 04/08/2013 07:29

I love wyatt, my friend little boy is called that.

Stanley is very popular down here (south) same as Frank. I really like it, all these different names.

Have also met recently a Jonas his last name is spelt the same but instead of the A its an E.

Mckayz · 04/08/2013 07:33

I love Stanley!! We could never use it though as we're Accrington Stanley fans. Grin

FieryChipotle · 04/08/2013 07:53

I heard a mother referring to a 'Soleil' which would probably be a nice name if it wasn't for her screaming it repeatedly in her best Thames Estuary accent! 'SoLAYYYYYYYYY!!! Gid ere right nahhh!' Hmm

BikeRunSki · 04/08/2013 08:12

Loads of baby / preschool Stanleys around here in boring, un-hip rural West Yorkshire.

Idislikemymil · 04/08/2013 08:16

Stanley is a lovely name. I know of 4 born in the last year round ere! Also in west yorks.

leelteloo · 04/08/2013 08:33

Over heard one new mum proudly telling a cafe owner her baby daughter was called London. The owner chuckled and asked if it was for the same reason the Beckhams named Brooklyn & the young mum giggled and said no, she had never even been there, she just thought it was glamorous! Shock
