Blair, overheard in Cornwall.

I don't think it would be my first choice

Tortoise · 04/08/2013 08:59

Boy called Vanny.

burberryqueen · 04/08/2013 09:01

that is truly cruel

SoMuchToBits · 04/08/2013 09:04

On the train the other week, two baby boys, Rafi and Ori (not sure if that was how they are spelled). Rafi might have been short for Rafael, which is not that unusual, no idea about Ori though. I really like Rafael.

Hulababy · 04/08/2013 09:07

Don't think the names in op are very unusual tbh. Neither is Stanley - know of 2/3 children named that, about 11yos now.

Hulababy · 04/08/2013 09:11

I really like Anastasia and Genevieve. Lots of these style I like. I Now now of two baby Vincents - not keen on that one too much myself but it's not dreadful.

It's much modern or made up names I don't like: Zillion anyone?!

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 04/08/2013 09:36

SoMuch those might be archangel names - Raphael and Oriel (although wiki spells it Uriel.

Teenage years spent singing cathedral music sent me down that mental rabbit hole!!

Harry and Harry

Harry was very popular on our campsite!

shoegal84 · 05/08/2013 20:17

Sat on a train the other day and came across a family. With kids named Georgia, Stevie, Vinny and Freddie - cringe!

Stanley is very popular oop north. Don't like it at all, especially Stan as an abbreviated form.

thisisyesterday · 05/08/2013 20:40

Arthur, Iris and Stanley are all becoming really quite popular. I know several Stanleys round here (south east)

BumpKitty · 05/08/2013 20:44

I heard a little girl called Echo, was quite amusing as her mum had to repeatedly call her to come back Grin

DanceLikeJohnTravoltaNow · 05/08/2013 20:44

There was a Mercedes from Yorkshire on our campsite. Never heard that name in real life before.

sonlypuppyfat · 05/08/2013 20:44

Have you actually heard those names oubliette I think you are the winner

kelda · 05/08/2013 20:52

My son's name is mentioned on this thread! Thankfully not too negatively.

Heard a Phoeniiix this summer, and Liberty. And a Jago, which I thought was a name that only existed on mumsnet. All very nice names.

Oubliette0292 · 05/08/2013 20:59

Yep - I know children with all of those names. A mixture of kids from school and names friends/colleagues have used for their children. I could add several more to the list too (DH went to boarding school and his firends are quite adventurous when in comes to naming children).

BeaWheesht · 05/08/2013 21:01

Ooh ooh we met a Tinkerbell this year on holiday

Oubliette0292 · 05/08/2013 21:03

Gaaah - can't type!!! DH has friends who are adventurous when it comes to naming children.

2tired2bewitty · 05/08/2013 21:05

Little lad today called Wisdom, which is a lot of pressure to put on a small boy!
