I'm in England with a Ruairidh.

No one pronounces is correctly, except Scots, but DS3 answers cheerfully to 'Rory' at school.

Telling people, 'it's Ruairidh - it more or less rhymes with fury' doesn't seem to help!

pygmy · 01/08/2013 20:22

Finlay and Hector are the finest Scottish names Smile

JamInMyWellies · 01/08/2013 20:31

I love so many of these but close friends have already pinched Euan, Finlay, Fraser.

What do you all think of Sandy?

OP posts:
PoppadomPreach · 01/08/2013 20:55

I think Sandy is lovely - short for Alexander?

dementedma · 01/08/2013 21:03

Massive stereotyping here but have yet to meet a Calum/Callum who wasn't a little shit lol

PlantGirl · 01/08/2013 21:45

I live in Scotland and just had a girl but if it had been a boy I would have called him Magnus.

A name with lots of Orkney connections.

bunnybing · 01/08/2013 21:54

Not sure it's a Scottish name but my favourite name for a boy is Arran.

chesticles · 01/08/2013 22:10

I love Sandy, but dh (English) was having none of it. He thinks it's too feminine. I don't, I think it's really strong masculine name but that's may e cause I know a couple of rugby players called Sandy

Deffodil · 01/08/2013 22:14

How racist do you want to be?Shock

JollyHolidayGiant · 01/08/2013 22:39

What?

BeaWheesht · 01/08/2013 22:42

Deffodil - wtf?

I don't like sandy to be honest. I like Alex though or Alasdair?

JamInMyWellies · 01/08/2013 22:43

Sorry, racist for wanting my children to have a name from their heritage?

OP posts:
dancemom · 01/08/2013 22:44

JollyHolidayGiant · 01/08/2013 22:44

I think maybe Deffodil meant to post on another thread.
