I like Douglas lots. Not too popular but not so obscure that people will stare blankly at you. Good solid name.

IAteTheCake · 30/07/2013 16:26

I love it - my Grandpa's name. He was a good man so I only associate good things with it. His nn was Doug, but Dougie could be cute for a little boy. Remembering my Grandpa makes me smile thanks op :-)

chesticles · 30/07/2013 16:29

I love it, but maybe I'm biased as I have one (DS2 3yo)

Theas18 · 30/07/2013 16:31

lovely name!

Mumblyboo · 30/07/2013 16:33

chesticles - what do you call your little douglas for short?

Cute

KOKOagainandagain · 30/07/2013 16:57

What do you call a man without a spade - Douglas Grin

Mollie272 · 30/07/2013 17:27

Douglas is a real family name for me and I love it - my granddad, uncle and brother are all called Douglas, although all go by Doug - or sometime Dougie in Db's case (pronounced Dug/Duggie - not Doog/Doogie as it is sometimes said)

Fraxinus · 30/07/2013 19:12

Like Douglas. Lovel dougall.

redcaryellowcar · 30/07/2013 19:15

love it!

QueLinda · 30/07/2013 19:17

My dog is called Douglas. But it works well for a boy too! It's cool, I also like Bruce.

MrsMongoose · 30/07/2013 19:21

I'm sure someone 'unique' will come and correct me, but I'm fairly sure the nickname for Douglas will be Doug.

VodIsGod · 30/07/2013 19:24

Love Douglas. I have 3DSs and it was on the list for all of them. Don't know why we didn't in the end, a combination of lack of a Scottish connection and whether it sat well with our other DSs name(s). But It was definitely a contender...

MargeSimpsonzz · 30/07/2013 19:25

I like it!

Doogie is a cute nick name too.

Bicnod · 30/07/2013 19:29

Love it.

It was my Grandad's name and is DS2's middle name so I may be a touch biased...

Ihatepeas · 30/07/2013 22:06

Love it. It's ds's name. He is 2. we get ots of positive comments about his name

chesticles · 01/08/2013 12:11

mumblymoo my Douglas mainly gets called Douglas, though his twin brother seems to call him Doug. He occasionally gets Dougie from me, and Dougles/Wougles from DH Blush. He doesn't get Doogie at all even though we are in Scotland

sillyoldfool · 01/08/2013 12:19

Love it. It's been our boys name 3 times, but we ended up with three girls!

neomamma · 01/08/2013 18:57

Love it. It can be Dougie when he's little, then Doug to his pals, then Douglas at work if he needs to have a "serious" name...

Viviennemary · 01/08/2013 20:01

Now that is a name I do like very much.

minipie · 01/08/2013 20:02

Fab name

KateCroydon · 02/08/2013 21:32

Lovely. Makes me think of a clever, kind, reliable man.

Mumblyboo · 11/08/2013 12:54

Could digby be nickname for Douglas? Or is that a stretch!? Dh keeps bringing Douglas up And whilst I like for adult or older boy I struggle sting it as a baby name.... Digby I can see however....

hmm bit of a stretch IMO, but I love Dougie (pronounced Duggie)
