Can Elsa be short for Elizabeth

Seriously considering Elsa if DC2 turns out to be a girl. We were planning to use Elizabeth as a middle name after a family member, so were avoiding names beginning with E. However, how about Elsa as a shortened version of Elizabeth (Elizabeth on the BC)? We would then use Charlotte as a middle name after a close friend. Does this work or is it better as just Elsa?

Elsa is a form of Elizabeth, so it would be fine to put Elizabeth on the birth certificate and use Elsa on a day to day basis.

Would work. There's also elspeth which is similar.

If you love it - why not use it as her actual name?

Elizabeth would give more options - but then she might end up being called a name you prefer less like Lizzy or something.

I'd use Elisabeth with an "s", so that all the letters of Elsa are in the full name.

I would go with Elisabeth too.
