I don't really like any! I want to avoid anything really popular at the mo - so no Oscar or Jacob, but want to go for something timeless and strong sounding, but cute on a baby. I'm ok with biblical, and would prefer a name that means something.
Here's what I DON'T like... see if you can find one I do!

Oscar/ Jacob/ Josh/ Oliver/ Milo/ James (too popular at the mo)
William (too royal)
Felix/ Harry/ Jasper/ Henry/ George/ Edward (too posh)
Fred

Husband doesn't like Leo or Charlie so they're out.

I quite like Isaac and Eben, but know boys too close to us with these names.

I also like Thomas but not on a baby... Can't think of anything else!

Andrew
David
Alastair
Christian
Peter
Simon

I wouldn't seek out 'cute on a baby' names specifically. Believe me, they aren't babies for very long Sad and all babies are cute regardless of their name. More important to find something with longevity.

Thanks again all.
I really am hard to please but very grateful for suggestions!

Going to lose Dylan from the list as it doesn't go well with surname.
So I'm down to:

Stanley
Thomas
Eben
Leo
Joel

Not really keen on any of the others, and think once I've shown my husband these we may be back to just Thomas again!

maybe Seb? Still up for suggestions, but certainly have more to think about now

You do realise that your baby will only be a baby for a short while? It will need a name to last its entire adult life. If you like Thomas then go for it. It's my dads name. It's therefore excellent!

ch1134 · 27/07/2013 08:41

Yes, Thomas is definitely the front runner - it's my husband's grandad's name, and apparently he was lovely, and very similar to my husband (who is also lovely).
I just can't imagine picking up baby Thomas and introducing baby Thomas - though it is a great name.

Onyabike · 27/07/2013 08:42

FWIW, I think Thomas is a great name (would have been one of my choices if dd3 had been a boy, along with James!).
How about:
Sam
Kit (Christopher)
Jonny
Hugo
Theo
Sebastian
Noah
Charlie

ch1134 · 27/07/2013 08:50

I like all of your suggestions onyabike, but some not with our surname, and some have been vetoed already by my husband. Theo is nice, but I knew one and now has negative connotations for me!

Ned

ch1134 · 27/07/2013 09:01

I love Ned, pretty sure it's also been vetoed! I know brothers Ned and Eben, lovely boys...
Signing out for a busy day...

Thomas at the top
Ned
Eben
Stanley
Leo

Could you not call him tommy? :-/

Writerwannabe83 · 27/07/2013 21:15

I really like the name Thomas for a baby Smile

I like Sebastian too Smile

Me and hubby are hoping to have a girl because if we have a boy we have no idea what we will call him. Boys names are just too hard! Grin
