Most of the names in drawn to seem to fall into the above category.
Please give me a steer towards something cool (if that doesn't sound pathetic) and classic for a girl...

I think that I read somewhere that Agnes is another form of Ines. Agnes is a lovely name.

Have you looked at dark greener for names, it show you the popularity increasing or decreasing over the last 10 years.

Well here is my girls shortlist. I think we have similar goals but I'm not averse to a bit of granny chic.

Violet
Lila
Iris
Madeleine
Elodie
Sylvie
Juliet
Cora
Elsa

I am also seriously considering Elizabeth as is a family name, is classic and has great nicknames.

I love Agnes & Bridie too (although I think I saw somewhere on here that Bridie is a scottish pasty)

Northumberlandlass · 25/07/2013 07:58

Oh and I like Florence / Flo

Groovee · 25/07/2013 08:01

Maeve, always liked this name but it just doesn't go with our last name.

MeeWhoo · 25/07/2013 08:02

Slight hijack alert. How do people in thw UK pronounce Ines?

MortifiedAdams · 25/07/2013 08:10

I say In-Ezz

DespicableMa · 25/07/2013 08:12

Marnie?

Hardrockhallelujah · 25/07/2013 08:12

Ooh Lena is lovely too

PoppyAmex · 25/07/2013 08:23

I know loads of girls called Inês in Southern Europe and it's a lovely name, but I find the way English speakers pronounce it a bit odd and sounds wrong to my ears.

I think it's the "s" sound at the end, we pronounce it "Eee-nesh"

It's also a boy's name in Scotland.

Onyabike · 25/07/2013 08:31

Cora

MeeWhoo · 25/07/2013 08:59

Thanks for the input in pronunciation. Hijack over.

Gabrielle
Rachel

Minifingers · 25/07/2013 09:14

Meant to add - my dd is Gabrielle. Shortened to Gaby, or The Gabster, and now she's a hard faced teenager, 'Gabzii'. Yes, she has the personality to fit her name! Smile

Elsa is cool yet still classic.

Audrey? I don't think it is grannyish but you might.
Josie is good but again not sure about the granny test.
Kate is elegant yet feisty but possibly not rare enough.
