Adding a second middle name

Hi, Ds is 4 months old. We registered him after 3 days.

My father passed away when ds was 2 months old. Ds completed the last few days of his granddad life as he is the first grandchild.

I want to add my fathers name as a second middle name but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Any help greatly appreciated. X

Hello, so sorry to hear of your loss Flowers

The process of changing a baby's name is incredible easy within the first 12 months - I speak from experience as I actually changed the first name of one of my DCs completely at 4 months! All you do is take the original full birth certificate to the Register Office and fill in a form to show what change you want to make. They will then make the amendment and issue you with a new amended birth certificate which will show the change/s. Incredibly simple!

I think it is a really lovely thing for you to do - one of my DCs has my late DFs name as a middle name for exactly the same reason.

I didn't give my son a middle name at all and now I wish I had he's 22 months now when I asked about a month ago on here everyone said it was easy before 12 months I didn't find out what made it harder after 12 months though and haven't done anything about it still think he should have a middle name Hmm
