We have 8 weeks left to find a name for dd but can't find anything we both like, dh suggested Allie as it was the nickname for his young son who passed away before I met him I like it but there's a but? I dont know, Any views on this would be appreciated also not sure it seems like a nickname to me I think I would prefer a fuller name ?

I don't think it's a definite no, but there is no way I'd consider it without discussing it with his ex. No way. She could be happy about it but its not worth the risk. It could be incredibly triggering for her.

No, don't do it. This child should have its own identity. Use as a middle name but this baby needs its own name.

It's sad about the other child but the new baby can't live in its shadow, if that makes sense.

If your DD is called Alice then Allie is WAY too similar. What was Allie the nickname for? Is there some other way you could work DP's son's name into your daughter's name?
