I like the pn Alayna but concerned about mispronounciation of spelt Elena.

Do you reckon it would be mispronounced? Could you get away with spelling it Alaina?

I have a Russian friend with this name and it's spelt Elena.

Elena = ELLEN-ah
Alana = Ah-LANA

If you want it pronounced Al-ay-na, why not spell it Alayna? That would make it very clear and it has a lovely sound.

I would pronounce Elena - Eh-LAY-nah (or Yeh-LAY-nah, if harking back to my Russian lessons of old)

Eleanor is ELLEN-or or ELLEN-ah depending on accent.

If you really want the AH at the beginning of Al-LAY-nah then I'd say to spell it Alayna. It looks weird, to me, with an I instead of the Y; Alaina.

Spell it how you wrote it, Alayna! The pronunciation Al-AY-nah is very clear and easy with that spelling. Lovely sound!

Elena to me is ELL-ena with the emphasis on the ELL.

Eleonor to me is ELL-en-OR with emphasis on ELL and OR.

Also, by spelling it Alayna and not Elena/Eleanor she will unlikely become one fo the thousand other little Ellies....!
