Honestly?

There are so many beautiful girls' names to choose from. Why saddle her with Jay?

FoofFighter · 05/07/2013 20:46

I know a female Jay (Justina) in her 30s.

ChubbyKitty · 05/07/2013 21:25

I know a girl called Jay. And a boy called Jay.

Well..a man and a woman actually. They're both lovely and lady Jay is a nurseSmile

miffybun73 · 05/07/2013 21:41

I think of it as a boy's name.

mathanxiety · 06/07/2013 06:46

Kay is much nicer and due a revival.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/07/2013 06:53

I think of it as a boy's name too, have only known one who had it as their full name, but also knew one who was Jay short for Jayesh.

krazipan · 06/07/2013 06:54

Chubbykitty I also know a female nurse called Jay! She is one of the loveliest people I know.

ClaraOswald · 06/07/2013 06:56

I know a woman called that, and I can't stand the name as she was a dreadful thief and just a very sly person to be around

NeverQuiteSure · 06/07/2013 06:58

Sorry, I don't like it (for a boy or a girl)

Stellarella123 · 06/07/2013 07:02

My dd is Jaye, a bit annoying when as a baby people thought she was a boy but that soon passed, I chose the name as it meant something to me, and I had known a girl called Jaye growing up and I always loved it, I say go for it, there's a lot worse names out there and it hasn't done me or my dd any harm, and no one has ever asked if its short for anything either

CPtart · 06/07/2013 07:05

Jay is a bird, or a boys name short for Jason or Jayden!

Kay or Fay are lovely though.

bishboschone · 06/07/2013 07:09

It's both my dc middle name but it has some significance behind it in our family. I like it.

VBisme · 06/07/2013 07:09

More of a letter than a name.

ConfusedAndNew · 06/07/2013 11:04

First post yay! I go by Jae on pretty much everything apart from formal legal stuff, passports etc. Short for Jaedan. Its pretty irritating when people ask what its short for, I'd imagine it would be even more irritating if it wasn't short for anything.

raisah · 06/07/2013 12:11

Jaya & Jayoti are Indian girls names which can be shortened to Jay.

berrycake · 07/07/2013 06:42

Can't believe so many people here are hating on it; it's the name of a bird, and I think would be a lovely name for your DD.

Wbdn28 · 08/07/2013 11:29

It's quite nice, although I'd go for something longer with Jay as nickname.

MikeLitoris · 08/07/2013 11:38

Dd1 has Jaye as her middle name.

I never use it now since finding out it is the nickname exp used for his OW.
