Syrie

Just came across this name for the first time. Syrie Maugham was a very famous interior designer who after the Victorian and Edwardian eras helped introduce light and bright interiors. She was especially famous for her all white rooms and mirrored screens. Many of her ideas are still very popular with modern interterior designers.

She left her first husband for the writer W(illiam) Somerset Maugham but eventually divorced him due to his on-going relationship with his homosexual lover.

So what do you think of Syrie?

I think Apple has spoilt this one for you. Siri was my first thought I'm afraid.

I missed Siri as I haven't lived in the UK for 17 years but did wonder about Syria.....

Siri man in phone? Huh?? I have an iPhone how come I don't know about this. I really like Syrie until reading these posts!

I know a Syree and she is just delightful.

Never heard of Siri as in iphones!

Did however think of the Tom Cruise daughter, whose name I can't remember but is similar?

I know a Sidi (Indian name).

I know a Siri whose name is a nn for Sigrid.

Syria is French for Syria....

Doh, just goes to show that autocorrect changes Syrie to Syria......
