Do you like Naomi?

Do you know any? Do the parents get good reactions to the name?

Actually, I do rather like Naomi.

But I don't know any...

poweredbytoast · 22/06/2013 15:57

I really like Naomi, but only when pronounced nay-oh-mee with all syllables equally stressed. I really don't like the way everyone else seems to say it: nay-OH-meh. It would have been 1st choice for me but didn't fancy correcting people all the time. Plus I didn't have a daughter!

Onetwo34 · 22/06/2013 15:58

Lovely!

EleanorHandbasket · 22/06/2013 15:58

I moan.....

Startail · 22/06/2013 16:06

She was DDs Y6 buddy and she was lovely. She still removers DD and they are 22&15.

I have a soft spot for Naomi Grin

I like it!

Jinty16 · 22/06/2013 20:12

Lovely name. I don't know any.

GampyWabbit · 22/06/2013 21:08

I love the name Naomi.

Really, really wish we'd used it for dd1. In the and dd2 couldn't be Naomi either, as it is too similar to dd1's.

It is gorgeous & would get a great reaction.

bootsycollins · 22/06/2013 21:10

I love Naomi

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 22/06/2013 21:13

I have a Naomi, she is 10!

I chose it and had to convince dh, it is such a lovely name.

It is not too popular but not unusual and apart from the odd person calling her Niomi which makes me stabby most people know how to pronounce it!

Over the years we have only met one or two, apart from one day in Hampton Court when there were three of them in the same room.

I don't think you could pick a better name!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 22/06/2013 21:14

Oh and yes it is i moan backwards, this is very appropriate for dd1 though so i love it!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/06/2013 21:14

Love it - biased though!

Jojay · 22/06/2013 21:15

Lovely

Yika · 22/06/2013 21:17

Lovely. I know one aged 15 but it's rather unusual, without being wacky.

Lattetogo · 22/06/2013 21:20

I love the song White by Naomi.

onedev · 22/06/2013 21:21

I love the name & the 4 year old I know is lovely.

MacCrackles · 22/06/2013 21:22

A lovely name. I would pronounce it Nay oh me but there is a girl in my Dd's class pronounced with the emphasis on the OH.

FobblyWoof · 22/06/2013 21:33

The first and only Naomi I know of is a total cow bag so I couldn't pick it because I'd always think of her, but it is a lovely name. Not too common, not too out there, sweet when they're little, strong when they're older- all the qualities I like in a name.

I also know a six year old Naomi who is gorgeous. One of my friends growing up was a Naomi too. So only two people. I think it's lovely and also pretty unusal yet still known...

Cherryoats · 22/06/2013 23:09

My friend is an adult naomi, her and her name are both lovely!

Ham69 · 23/06/2013 13:19

I know 2 adult Naomi's, a 2 year old and the cutest 3 month old baby. I like it.

HoneyandRum · 23/06/2013 13:41

Love it.

wildstrawberryplace · 23/06/2013 13:54

I love this name and would use it myself but the mispronunciation thing is gives me reservations.

I've heard it pronounced:

NAY-uh-mee
Nay-OH-mee
(I'll ignore the Nye-OH-mee wrong'uns!).

And bizarrely I seem to say it as Neh-YO-mee (very ellided sound between neh-YO bit).

I know a Japanese Naomi (different etymology/meaning obv.) and she pronounces it Now-mee.
