The name Felix? We live in greater London and I have only come across 1 who is a year old. Dd has an unusual name and we have European heritage so want a name to reflect this. Felix seems to be at the top of our boys name list. I am aware of the cat connotations but the name existed before that, plus am aware it is a bit of a love hate name. We obviously love it! However, it has become more popular recently and I just wondered quite how popular....

Two in our village school.

I know one Felix, I don't think it is hugely popular.

Never heard of one here (but then I do live in a bit of a isolated south west city). I like it - different but not too different.

MolotovCocktail · 21/06/2013 14:14

It's becoming increasingly popular. I know a 3yo Felix and know of one other, younger Felix.

But if you like it, so what?

mrsmindcontrol · 21/06/2013 14:18

I've got a 7yr old Felix, he's the only one in his huge school. We've met one another & I know of another 2.
Pretty unusual still I'd say.
Go for it. I might be biased but I love his name.

I know 3 (two in London, 1 in the Midlands) they are all babies / toddlers.

I don't have kids myself yet either so not as though I actually know that many kids as I don't spend my days hanging round the school gates. So I would say its getting popular.

I know a 12 year old and a 9 year old Felix though not living in the same area

bugsybill · 22/06/2013 00:20

I have met a couple, between the ages of 3 and 10.

I know 3 - 1 aged 11, 1 aged 9 and 1 aged 2. Lovely name and not too overused imo.

I have birth very recently in a London hospital. When the midwife gave DS his discharge check-up she arrived at my bed and asked "I bet he is called Felix", I said he wasn't and gave his nane and she laughed and said she'd discharged three baby Felixes that morning!

I haven't met any but am truly surprised at it's popularity in the UK given it is the name of a brand of cat food. Nice enough name but I would find that off putting. I feel the same about Flora, lovely but no.
