Hi we live in the north east and these are the three names we've come down to. I love Lincoln but not sure I've got the balls to use it and I'm not sure how it'll sound with a Geordie accent!!

My fave is Harry but I'm so worried about it being popular and people turning their noses up at it.

Max is almost a middle ground but doesn't wow me - but is a name supposed to?!

Any advice would help!! Thanks

I love Lincoln. To me it's a solid and strong name. Max and Harry for me are too common

There must be some other names you'd like - maybe get the baby name book out again. I agree Harry is way too popular and Lincoln is quite out there. Max would be a nice middle way but only if you actually like it! I would say my DS's name wowed me, so yes, it's possible.

Yes, keep looking

If you like Lincoln what about:

Leon
Evan
Asa
Levi

Let me know if you hate these!

I have 2 DS's... first one's name: LOVED it (and it was the only one we could both agree on).

Second one's name: REALLY liked it (and it was the only one we could both agree on)

Now: TOTALLY LOVE BOTH NAMES because they SO suit the two most precious people in my world :)

Sorry to be so cheesy but whatever you call them will suit them after a while and you will be wowed because of that.

Go with whatever suits you and F**k what other people think IMHO

I met a baby Lincoln once, it really suited him. I like Max & Harry but they're overused. Go for Lincoln!

I can't believe how hard it is to pick a name!!!! Who knew?! Before I was pregnant I had names I thought I'd definitely use, now when it comes down to it it's not so easy!!!

What is wrong with using Lincoln? It is not that unusual and you do say you love it. I would put aside your worries about is being too unusal and think about how it sounds when you use it more objectively.

Harry is quite popular but that is because it is a nice name, if you like it don't let it put you off.

I remember reading an article about parents having naming remorse and the article said what often happens is that people cross names that they like off their list for minor reasons and often end up using a name that they don't really like, but couldn't find much wrong with it.

The article said to look at the list of names you like and to focus on what you like about them and attach those positive associations to the names until one starts shining out.

Maybe also think about middle names. My dc have special middle names which mean a lot to us and they really enhance the first name and together with our last name they make a great whole name.

Elquota · 17/06/2013 21:12

Yes, go for Lincoln!

I'd only use Harry or Max as nicknames.

tammytoby · 18/06/2013 11:13

Harry and Max are so overused and a little dull now imo.

Lincoln is a great name that I've not heard much and makes a refreshing change. It is easy to say/spell, sounds masculine and you LOVE it - go for it!!

MummyPig24 · 18/06/2013 13:42

Max definitely. It's short, strong and such a lovely name.
