For DC3 if it's a girl. I work with the public in education and it's one of the few names I've never come across. Opinions please?

Meredith is my favourite girls name. It is a lovely name.

flybynight · 17/06/2013 18:23

It's a lovely name. Welsh, isn't it?

Tickledyellow · 17/06/2013 19:49

Sounds like a witch's name. Also think of that girl who was murdered in Italy. Sorry, I think I'm not keen....

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/06/2013 19:52

Vile, sorry

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 17/06/2013 19:58

The Mere- bit is ok but the -dith is clunky and harsh-sounding. Much prefer Merryn.

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 17/06/2013 20:04

Love it. Just added it to my list!

I know a little Meredith - her father is Welsh. She is lovely & it is a lovely name.

bootsycollins · 17/06/2013 20:32

Lovely, Merryn and Merrie also gorgeous.

JacqueslePeacock · 17/06/2013 20:48

I like it. And Merry for short is nice too.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 17/06/2013 20:50

Lovely name

Iwantannawintoursbob · 17/06/2013 21:35

I have one. It seemed like a huge name for a baby but she grew into it once she developed her own attitude personality.

The only thing that annoys me a touch is that lots of people think she's called 'Mary', as she's generally known at Merry - unless she's in trouble. But this won't matter once she starts school and her friends and teachers realise she's actually a Meredith. I will only use Meredith when I talk to teachers about her to make sure it sticks.

She was born after Meredith Kercher was killed and I did mull it over as to whether I still wanted to use the name, but it felt wrong (and a shame) to not use it because of that.

Great name, I love it. Was on our shortlist for DD3 but our surname is so long we decided to go for something shorter.

Just suggested it on another thread in fact.

Elquota · 18/06/2013 01:13

Lovely name.

BOF · 18/06/2013 01:25

Very lovely.

BlueChampagne · 18/06/2013 12:26

I love it too.

I like it, especially with nickname Merry.
