Lorelai - no, didn't she walk into the sea and die?

Peony - eh no.
Persephone -no, hang on, was it Persephone who walked into the sea and died. terribly ugly
Philippa - ok, but bland
Thalia - reminds me of labia
Tallulah -no, too slebby
Tolmiea/Tolmeia - what?
Valentina - hmm, depends, what's your sur name. If it is tompkinson or something embarrassingly down to earth then NO
Viola - no. she'd be called trombone all through school, or double bass.
And DH likes:
Emma - pretty. the announcement moment is underwhelming. eg "the baby's name is............ emma". oh. but the name is very nice and I prefer it to Thalia and Tallulah and tolmiea
Hannah - prefer Anna
Lily -no done to DEATH at this point. My dd is 11 and I wouldn't consider it 11 years ago cos it was too popular.
hmm
Dana ha ha.. I think Dana international.
As you can see there's not much overlap... I agree! your tastes are very different. He likes normal names that are currently popular. So, my advice is to tweak things that are very familiar to him. what about Anya, Julia, Juliet, Louisa, Clara
I can see both sides here, your husbands suggestions are boring imo and yours are trying just a little bit too hard to be different. Reminds me of mine and my x's lists to be honest. We eventually found an overlap. It was similar. he wanted a normal classic name and I was suggesting things like Dahlia and Azalea. His face!!
What does he think of longer names like Elizabeth/Catherine/Margaret that have lots of nick names?
I suspect you are automatically ruling out anything in the top 100, but I don't believe there's nothing there you like! I think you should go back over the list and pick something that is less try hard but still very pretty like Lydia. That's just a suggestion. There are a couple out there yes, but it's not a name I've come across 2 or 3 in a class. It's been very steady compared with some other names. What about Susie it's sufficiently like Sophie to sound familiar to him, but a baby Susie would be unusual and refreshing.
Hth a bit. Good luck.
