Emmeline or Beatrice?
Really like both names and just can't decide between the two. I have slight concerns about Emmeline being continually misheard as Emily and also that it there are some variations in its pronunciation, but not sure these issues are big enough to put me off the name.
Your thoughts gratefully received! Thank you Grin!

I prefer Beatrice Grin

Fozziebearmum2b · 16/06/2013 09:51

Prefer Beatrice too Smile

ImaginaryHat · 16/06/2013 10:34

Yep, Beatrice for me too.

bugsybill · 16/06/2013 12:53

Beatrice

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 16/06/2013 12:53

I think both are fabulous but Beatrice has the edge. You must have another though and call her Emmeline!

DawnOfTheDee · 16/06/2013 12:54

Beatrice definitely

Gingerandcocoa · 16/06/2013 12:55

I think they're both beautiful. I'd be tempted to go with Emmeline because it's less common, but then your daughter would have a lifetime of spelling it out for people or correcting them!

Bea as a nn for Beatrice is adorable :)

Layl77 · 16/06/2013 13:26

Beatrice. Emma-line pn is clumsy

Onesleeptillwembley · 16/06/2013 13:28

Beatrice every time. My Grandma, and one of my all time favourite names.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2013 13:44

I like them both. :)

FetaCheeny · 16/06/2013 13:52

Emmeline.I like Beatrix but not keen on Beatrice for some reason. Nn Bea is cool though.

TheRealFellatio · 16/06/2013 13:53

Emmeline. Don't really like Beatrice much.

fussychica · 16/06/2013 15:53

Beatrice as Bee or Bea are great nns. Emmeline is nice but fear you are right about Emily connection. Otherwise whichever goes best with your surname.

Littlecherublegs · 16/06/2013 16:48

Beatrice.

Elquota · 16/06/2013 17:02

Emmeline is a lovely name. Beatrice is a bit harder and a little stuffy.

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/06/2013 17:23

Emmeline.

I find Beatrice perfectly nice but a bit dull.

Turniptwirl · 16/06/2013 18:06

Beatrice

betsybo · 16/06/2013 18:48

I like Beatrice and nn Bea. It's great for a baby and an elegant young lady.

Emmeline is nice too but will be shortened to Em and that seems a bit dull in comparison.

Iusedtowearmakeup · 16/06/2013 20:33

Ok, Beatrice seems to be the most favoured choice from the mumsnet jury so far. Any further thoughts and comments gratefully received! Thank you Grin

How many little Beatrices are there about? It appears to be just outside the Top 100 in the lists that I've looked at but looks like it's becoming increasingly popular. This doesn't concern me but I do wonder just how popular it's likely to become over the next few years??

Emmeline

kelda · 17/06/2013 09:11

Beatrice.

mrstowers · 17/06/2013 13:31

Emmeline after the great womens role model.

poppydaisy · 17/06/2013 14:59

Beatrice, but it is becoming very popular!

Squidwoman · 17/06/2013 16:40

My sister is an Emeline and has never been called Emily. Just doesn't happen - quite a different sound. Very nice name!
