How can Caitlin be shortened?

DD2 has now decided that she doesn't like her name. So to humour her I have tried to come up with alternative but can only think of Kate or Katie instead but she said no to those as well. Are there any others?

She is 4 by the way and wants to be called Lucy or Lilly.

TIA

I know 2 Caitlins. one is shortened to Cat and the other is Caitie.

Callie - lovely name!

MagicBaguette · 15/06/2013 21:53

Or spell Kate 'Cait'

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 15/06/2013 21:54

Tough seems an appropriate answer :)

But if you have a screw loose and are going to humour her then why not just call her Lucy as she wants?

SauvignonBlanche · 15/06/2013 21:57

Catie or Cate.

AKissIsNotAContract · 15/06/2013 21:58

Some good suggestions there thank you.

If she mentions it again tomorrow (as she has for days) I will ask her. If she isn't happy then Lucy it is.

Chipping I have to admit I do like the tough answer. Grin

It is better than DD3 who keeps wanting to be called George, Peppa or Suzie!

a child I taught (age 3) insisted her name was Cinderella. she would only answer to cinderella. For six whole monthsHmm she insisted.

She's now 15 and we still call her cinderella occasionally just to remind her Grin

Cait. Its the Irish for Kate and spelling it like this means it is still her actual name (a shortened version) rather than changing it completely iykwim.

I probably should have mentioned that my name is Katherine and I normally get called Kath or Kat so those could get confusing Smile

Cait(I wouldn't change the spelling to Kate)

DP's friend has a DD called Caitlin. I have no idea how it came about but she is known as Tilly. DP seems to think it is to do with her not being able to say her name properly when she was little which turned into a nickname.

I like it though. Could Tilly work for your DD?

AmbrosiaCreamedMice · 16/06/2013 00:30

Cait is pronounced Cah-tch.
