Does Teddy sound a bit chavvy? Sorry I know that word is not pc but to me is a bit like Sydney, which I detest for a little girl.

DH loves it. Thinks its really cute, which isn't one of my stipulations for a name.

I like Poppy btw.

I prefer Teddy for a girl Smile very cute and different. Also Poppy reminds of a pets name!

Teddy is not chavvy in the slightest.

Theodora is a great name. Classic and elegant.

Go for it.

Theodora is lovely and you can always have Thea or Dora as nicknames later if you wish.

Teddy is very cutesty, as obviously it's a soft toy.

Well, my idea of having lots of lovely ladies agree with me to put DH off has backfired!!

Looks like its Theodora/Teddy then!

Just spotted you mentioned Poppy too... I prefer Poppy to Theodora.

Theodora is my favourite girls name and I love all the potential nicknames - however, ruined for us in SE London with the "th" sound mostly pronounced as a "f" sound instead! "Fear-dora" or the nn "Fear" doesn't sound quite as lovely!

Madamecastafiore · 15/06/2013 12:33

Punky DH comes from Bromley so I will be having serious words about how it is pronounced!

Theodora was also my top name for DD but had to drop it due to pronunciation issues as mentioned up thread!

I think Thea or Dora are lovely diminutives, and there's nothing wrong with Teddy (or even Ted!) for a cutesy baby nickname (I wouldn't make this her main name though as agree it could limit her, lets say, if she decides to be a High Court Judge Grin)

Did you know it's what Robbie Williams has called his dd? There may be a few around, but it's a really sweet name!

Sheshelob · 15/06/2013 12:40

Can also be shortened to Dede Smile

I absolutely love love love this name! Top of my girls list!! I was going to spell it Theadora though, am I wrong?? Don't really want a wacky spelling!!
