What do you think of the following names:

Boy:
Steve (we might call him Stevie)
Glen (or Glenn)

Girl:
Robyn
Ramona
Stevie

What kind of kids/teenagers/adults do these names make you think of? Do you think these are dated/downright cruel?

Hmm interesting! Not what I was expecting.

I am not keen on Steve for a baby; Steven is slightly better. But it is very dated. Quite like Glenn, having thought about it, it has always been less common so fewer connotations than with Steve.

Love Ramona and Robyn. I see confident, pretty teenagers maturing into confident adults.

Don't like Stevie for a girl.

OK - BIL is called Steve and is an arsehole, but also my friend's lovely DH is called Steve and is very nice... So Steve to me is fairly neutral, but prefer Stephen.

DH's best friend is called Glen. I also used to ride a horse called Glen as a child. Overall positive vibes for me, although not a name that I would choose myself.

Robyn - I know someone called Robyn, I sort of like it but much prefer it for a boy though, sp. Robin. The Robyn I know is a doormat...

Ramona was DH's favourite name for DD2 (after Ramona Quimby, The Family from One End Street) - but I felt it sounded like a naughty girl's name! It is nice though. I do like it but it wasn't quite right for DD2. It's a strong name, Ramona Quimby was a great character.

Stevie just makes me think of Miranda. Not ugly, but I don't love it - not cruel to use it tho.

I'd use Stephen, with Steve/Stevie as nn. Good name. Glen/n is ok too (not my taste).

Ramona always makes me think of The Ramones, so doesn't do it for me. Robyn is OK (especially for a December baby). And I like Stevie for a girl, but would use it as nn for Stephanie.

Stephen, with Stevie for a nickname is actually quite cute. I'd love a little girl Stevie - I was only thinking that the other day when I was reading something about Stevie Nicks - but I'm not sure it's the kind of name I would give to a child. It'd be good if there was a longer name, Stephanie maybe, with Stevie as a nickname.

Robyn is really nice.
