Unfortunate initials!!

I am currently pregnant with DC3, and love a lot of names beginning with A, like Arlo, Annie, etc etc. BUT our surnames begin with S and S. So, their initials would be A.S.S!
It would just be too cruel wouldn´t it??

I could have wrote this thread. I too am currently expecting dc3 and we have chose a name beginning with A but then her middle names would make her A.S.S. so we have now got to come up with some other middle names and not following the tradition of family names as middle names like we have done with our other 2 dc Sad

aftermay · 11/06/2013 15:52

At least it's not Boris Johnson.

Bowlersarm · 11/06/2013 16:35

Yes would be cruel, sadly. I think we tend to be drawn towards names that we shouldn't really choose for one reason or another.

CUnexttuseday · 11/06/2013 16:36

when my DS1 was 1 someone pointed out his initials are KGB, we hadn't even thought about it

DS2 is JCB

quertas · 11/06/2013 16:37

Yep, it's sadly not fair. I so wanted to call my DD Vivienne but our surname begins with a D so no dice. Can you imagine?!

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom · 11/06/2013 16:39

Yes, unfortunately.

I think you can get away with initials that spell something - like the KJB and JCB example upthread- as long as that something isn't negative. Spelling HIV or Ass or VD just doesn't seem fair.

Wannabuyawatch · 11/06/2013 16:57

Oh dear...it seems life really is unfair. Never thought about Boris Johnson...hilarious!

TheOrchardKeeper · 11/06/2013 17:04

Mine spell NHS.

My mum didn't realize til i mentioned it to her a few years back either.

Could be worse!

miffybun73 · 11/06/2013 17:06

Yes, too cruel I'm afraid.

OneMoreCupOfTeaFirst · 11/06/2013 17:07

Don't do it. My friend was RG which doesn't sound too bad, except that in south Dublin suburbs, some most people say ore instead of are for 'r'. So, RG reads Orgy. ho ho ho

OneMoreCupOfTeaFirst · 11/06/2013 17:09

NHS is not terrible. My mother's are shocking. (BJ) But weirdly, she got married at about 22, became BS which is not good either, and when I said to her that her initials sound like a polite way of saying bullshit, she looked at me like my mind was a sewer.

anastasiakrupnik · 11/06/2013 17:22

I know an A.S.S, though she wasn't til she got married. Love eh?

Wannabuyawatch · 11/06/2013 17:24

Oh god am really laughing now...nearly as bad (on a tangent) as my art teacher at school who was called Michael Hunt - Mike for short

Startail · 11/06/2013 17:32

I have a older friend who started life as MGM the film company and became MGB the sports car.

Given she's a formula 1 loving movie buff it kind of fits.

Another, fairly girly school friend hated people finding out her initials were SAM.

superbagpuss · 11/06/2013 17:36

I got interesting initial when I married dh. still did it because I love him and hope no one notices Blush

chickabilla · 11/06/2013 18:41

We had a similar problem; dd's initials would have been ARS. The only other middle name we wanted was ASS. We couldn't do either so she ended up as MRS! I'm BS since getting married so always use my middle initial as well when initialing things!

MyBoysAreFab · 11/06/2013 18:43

An anagram of ds2's initials is PEE. How could we not have noticed?!

prolificnamechanger · 11/06/2013 19:32

I've got a MRS! Didn't realise until too late that she would be addressed as Miss MR Surname on formal stuff. Oops.

TrudyW · 11/06/2013 21:28

Me and my mum laugh about this she originally wanted my middle name to be Isabella but it would have made me a TIT haha so she changed it to Patricia so I became TPT instead, much better!

LilyLilyLilyOiOiOi · 12/06/2013 09:08

My initials since being married are RAT and my sons are ET... And his first name is Elliott. In my defence I've never seen the film ET! But still... Bless him!

LittleBearPad · 12/06/2013 09:09

Could you have two middle names to avoid a problem?

MadamNoo · 12/06/2013 09:17

yes, add an extra middle name, maybe an R?
in ds class there is a F.A.R.T. poor kid

LittleBearPad · 12/06/2013 09:21

MadamNoo poor kid (Grin)

AWhistlingWoman · 12/06/2013 09:23

I am a former C.J.D.
