Elysia?

After pretty much deciding on Emily I am now feeling a bit swayed towards Elysia!
Not sure if it is a bit odd and i have never met one in real life but I love the meaning and much prefer the spelling to Alicia (which could be pronounced Aleesha!)

Opinions please: Emily, Elysia or Annabelle (DP's number one choice - I'm not convinced but may as well gather opinions to be fair )

I LOVE Elysia! I campaigned hard for it to be on our short list but DP was having none of it! (I think it was because I vetoed Alicia earlier on, now both of us are just being stubborn)
I think it's very pretty and I love that it's so unusual.

Squoosh: it reminds me of Elysian Fields too but surely that's a lovely, blissful, meadowey place so I don't mind the connotation - it's not like I'm calling her Hades or something.. But I suppose there is an association with death if you look at it that way (although I'd say considerably less than the ever more popular Neveah's!)

I prefer Emily and Annabelle to Elysia.

When I saw the thread title I must admit I thought "why not just Alicia?"

I wouldn't pronounce Elysia anything like Alicia - I would say El-eez-ya or El-eezh-ya.
Also, Champs Elysées. Not good.

Beautiful. Not common. Doesn't look made up.

Beautiful name and never had any issues with pronunciation

Afraid I think it looks made up even if its not - prefer both of the other options.

My cousin has an Elyssia. They based the name on a perfume they saw in a shop.

She gets called Alicia all the time.

I do like the name, but bear in mind that she will have people spelling/saying it wrongly for the rest of her life.

Guess it depends if you want something 'different' or not?

I'd never use it, but if I heard it, pronounced Ell iss ee ah I'd think it was pretty.

I like it but I think people will assume it's a made up spelling of Alicia, and she will probably suffer her whole life with having to correct people who will hear and spell it as Alicia, or who will read it and pronounce it Aleesha. I prefer Annabelle. In fact I LOVE Annabelle.

My friend has a 6 yr old with that spelling and she shortens it to Ellie and says no one pronounces right and she just wishes she had used Ellie on on bc now !

I hate the idea people might think its a made up spelling though - it was on the Bounty Name app on my phone (name obsessed!) so I assumed it must be a reasonably accepted spelling...

I have a friend who's sister is called Elyssia. Pronounced as you would pronounce your spelling.

I think it's lovely.

I know a 12 year old Elycia. Definately suits her.
Prefer it to your other choices. Annabelle is nice, but I find Emily a bit yawnsome.

Emily is classic,Elysia is more unusual. It depends what want in a name.

I don't like Annabelle with that spelling but do like it generally speaking. And one does say a name fairly often

We loved it for DD2, top of my list the only thing that put me off was it didn't work in the languages we needed it to. She is Eliana - shortened to Ana, she hates being called Ellie.

I know a middle aged one. Frightfully posh and mad as a box of frogs. I quite like the name, though it's a little bit on the frilly side.

I think it's pretty sounding but would imagine a lot of people would hear it and spell it as Alicia.

Anabelle is my favourite from your list, I think Emily is very safe, and a little dull imo.
