ove the name Maddie but not sure on Madeline, what else could Maddie be short for if we chose it as a nickname? Is Maddox a boys name?

I know a little boy called Maddox but I've also seen girls with the name.

Madison? I know a 5 yo and 7 yo, both of whom use Maddie/Maddy as shortened versions

JumpingJackSprat · 03/06/2013 20:37

Madison? Maidlin? Magdalen? Maud?

SoftSheen · 03/06/2013 20:39

I think that Madeleine is a great name. However, you could also use Madison (personally I don't like this) or Magdalen with nn Maddie. Maddox is definitely a boy's name!

Madonna?! Grin

Maddie, to me, is someone who is Mad.

However, the full name Madeleine is very pretty.

Maddie - fine for a child but not an adult. I'm a Madeleine and I was never a Maddie!

GroupieGirl · 04/06/2013 10:46

I quite like Madrigal, there was one in a book I liked as a teenager.

siluria · 04/06/2013 14:54

Matilda or Madison.

I love the nn Maddie, but it rhymes with a nickname my family use for me and a nickname my DH's friends use for him, so we'd be ridiculous if we used it!

I think Matilda nn Maddie is lovely :)

I know a Maddie here in Ireland whose full name is Mairéad - that might not be usable if you've no Irish heritage though :D

OMGYouSuck · 07/10/2016 04:44

Your name must be Twatty then.

Madison or Maddalena.

I know a Matilda who gets Mattie (pronounced Maddie).

At a stretch, I suppose you could use Magdalene or Magdalena, although they'd more likely be called Magda for short.

Maddox is 100% boy.

If you love Maddie register her as just Maddie. My sister likes Max but didn't like any of the names it could be short for so he's Max on his birth certificate
