A middle name for Philippa

Hi all, one week until baby's due date. The favourite name at the moment is Philippa (shortened to Pippa) however we are struggling to find a middle name we like to go with it. Any help greatly appreciated! TIA

I know that it's not very imaginative, but I think that Jane goes really well with it (slightly biased as it's my middle name and my daughter's)

Philippa Jane :)

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 22/05/2013 12:05

I thought Jane before opening the thread.

CluelessNewbie1 · 22/05/2013 12:15

Thank you for the suggestions, my middle name is also Jane! It's so difficult. My DH says we will know when we meet her, but I am freaking out that I will have a child with no name for the rest of her life! My name changed in my early days so I think that indecision must run in my family.

Philippa Blythe
Philippa Carey
Philippa Sian

Darn it, Jane works really well!

FoofFighter · 22/05/2013 12:19

I know it's a bit of a hated name on here due to everyone and their dog using it recently but I really think Rose fits well.

Philippa Rose

Philippa Claire / Clare

nenevomito · 22/05/2013 12:21

I think it works better with a one syllable name after IYSWIM.

Still18atheart · 22/05/2013 12:25

Lousie

But I do know that sometimes the L sounds can be too much, thank god I didn't have a lisp with Ls

Louise even

dannyboyle · 22/05/2013 12:26

May?

Meant to also say my daughter is a Philippa (Pippa) and we love it! Great choice and we get loads of positive comments!

Snowflakepie · 22/05/2013 12:28

Agree that a short name goes best. These are all popular but nice: Rose, Jane, Grace, Alice, Kate, May, Maud, Anne, Louise.

Is there someone in your families you would like to honour? That's where my DCs middle names have come from, and I think it is a lovely thing to do.

Philippa is gorgeous btw. It is my cousins name otherwise we would have certainly considered it, she gets called Pip now as an adult and was always very cool when we were kids. Your DD will have a name, don't worry!

EduCated · 22/05/2013 12:29

Jane was my first thought before I opened the thread too!

cathpip · 22/05/2013 12:30

My dd is called Phillipa, Pippa for short ( or pip pops ) and we get loads of compliments. Her middle name is Anne.

CluelessNewbie1 · 22/05/2013 12:34

You are all very kind for sparing the time to make suggestions. I will run them by DH tonight so that we have at least got a short list! My problem is I like all of them! Before I was pregnant I had decided my daughter would be Anna Lilly (Lilly was my Grandmother)... Now we are very much decided on Philippa. I'm glad everyone has said nice things about it, you dread naming your baby and then people tell you it's an awful/chavvy/serial killer name!

WaitingForMe · 22/05/2013 12:42

In that case what about Philippa Anne?

HibiscusIsland · 22/05/2013 12:45

Philippa the Serial Killer? No. Grin

JojoMags · 22/05/2013 12:47

What about a family name/maiden name? Often good sources of mns.

FreedomOfTheTess · 22/05/2013 12:47

Just avoid Philippa Kate for obvious reasons!

JojoMags · 22/05/2013 12:48

Anna Lilly is beautiful btw. but Philippa lovely too.

worsestershiresauce · 22/05/2013 12:48

I thought Jane before I opened the thread too!

Not Kate though. You'll look like a Middleton Stalker.

FoofFighter · 22/05/2013 13:15

Pippa Lilly? Piccalilli

EarlGreyTeabag · 22/05/2013 13:17

Another one who thought Jane before I opened the thread!

CluelessNewbie1 · 22/05/2013 13:18

I thought that might be too many 'L's... My nickname as a child was Piccalilli.. Not sure why! :) My mother's name is Alison and I really wanted to include that but I don't think Alison works well with Phillipa.
