Not sure about Isabel...

I've posted before... Having twins, probably non identical, and we are not finding out sexes.... So we need four names. We have a Matilda (Tilda) already.

So far:

Hugo
Ralf
Valentina
Isabel

I am not sure re Isabel. I am not too bothered by popularity, its just that the "bel" bothers me... I hate Christobeland Annabel...

what do you think about Imogen (nn Immy) or Nancy instead?

I love Valentina!

ZolaBuddleia · 22/05/2013 10:12

Love Nancy, I'm also not keen on 'bel' endings.

Eskino · 22/05/2013 10:16

I love Nancy, imogen is very sweet. I think Hugo and Ralf (said Ralf or Raif?) are a bit poncey, as is Valentina.

Isabel, you won't get used to if you hate "belle" names.

Alternatives?
Roscoe
Rufus
Celia
Hermione

How about Isolde instead?

badtime · 22/05/2013 10:47

Oops, just noticed about (Ma)Tilda - Isolde is probably too close.

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 10:48

Eskino - Ralf is pronounced Ralf. We are thinking that spelling to avoid the confusion re Ralph... Obviously it doesn't work!

Actually I kind of like Ralf. (With the L)

newgirl · 22/05/2013 11:20

Lizzie?

Jemima?

I love Isabel but it is popular

JojoMags · 22/05/2013 11:22

I love the Ralf spelling. I don't think its confusing and anyone who was confused would quickly learn. Don't let it put you off. Also it goes really well with Matilda. Like Hugo too, but prefer Ralf! Not keen on Nancy, just makes me think of Nancy-boys (which is a horrible, out-dated term, but can't help making the link), or Valentina - the 'a' ending is too similar to Matilda. Imogen is OK and Immy sweet. Isadora?

miffybun73 · 22/05/2013 11:49

Love Nancy and Valentina.

Not keen at all on Imogen.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/05/2013 15:23

Hugo and Valentina
Hugo and Ralf
Valentina and Imogen

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/05/2013 15:24

Or Nancy and Imogen

OKnotOK · 22/05/2013 15:26

I have an Isabella.

I thought i was being different...until i found out!!
Went to the doc's with her one time and there were 4 others there with the same name......bugger!

Luckily she has a middle name so she can always use that instead! Grin

I still like it though.

CoteDAzur · 22/05/2013 15:32

Valentina & Allegra

diddl · 22/05/2013 16:05

I love Imogen-& Isobel!!

Leeds2 · 22/05/2013 16:08

Prefer Isabel.

ArabellaBeaumaris · 22/05/2013 21:41

I really, really like Ralf, by the by.

I think Isabel is a lovely name, but so is Nancy. Less convinced by Imogen.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/05/2013 21:54

Hugo and Valentina/Imogen would be adorable!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/05/2013 22:03

I love Isobel.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/05/2013 22:08

Remus I was just about to post that of course it should be IsObel!

Dd1's middle name, after her great grandmother.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/05/2013 22:10

I don't know why, but I think it looks prettier with an O.

Anjou · 22/05/2013 22:57

I love all of the names you've considered so far. (We considered Valentin for DS2 and I think Valentina for a girl is lovely). I adore Isobel (my preferred spelling) but there really are lots of Isobel/Isobella/Isabel/Isabella's. I know you say the popularity doesn't bother you, but many of the ones I know have become known as Belle or Bella, even when their parents call them Izzy. How about Inez, Anaïs or Anya?

LittleMissLucy · 22/05/2013 23:28

I like Imogen very much.
I am also ambivalent about Isabel. Don't know why.
