Charlie and Lola

My friend has a daughter called Lola and is pregnant with a boy. She has always loved the name Charlie but feels she just can't use it now. Is she right?

If she has a thick skin she can go for it Smile

MummyBurrows · 09/05/2013 16:47

I'd say she's right...she could use it anyway but if I were her I would expect to be mocked/laughed at...

miffybun73 · 09/05/2013 16:48

I'd say yes, she's definitely right.

StiffyByng · 09/05/2013 16:52

That's a shame. I was wondering if people would say that they'd be forgotten in a few years. But the books will live on, won't they?

It would only be forgotten in a few years if cbeebies stopped showing it and the books vanished, but alas,TeleTubbies and The Tweenies shows live on courtesy of that channel and they stopped making those shows years ago! And like you said, books live on,so it will never go away...

JojoMags · 09/05/2013 17:09

Yes. She's right.

thermalsinapril · 09/05/2013 18:08

She's right.

SkiBumMum · 09/05/2013 18:13

If she likes the names why not use them? She can laugh it off the first time. No one will go on and on about it surely. Kids would probably think its quite cool. Mine would love to be C&L.

Exhaustipated · 09/05/2013 18:22

She's right, 100%

Unless she'd be happy for people to guffaw and say 'really?' when she introduces her children.

thegreylady · 09/05/2013 19:08

I know a Charlie and Lola-they are 10 and 2 and have a brother of 6 in between.

OscarIsABookworm · 09/05/2013 19:08

She's right.

Bakingtins · 09/05/2013 19:58

She's right.

StiffyByng · 09/05/2013 20:20

Ah well. I rather hoped I could cheer her up by telling her the Internet didn't see a problem but obviously not!

OP posts:
squoosh · 09/05/2013 20:23

She's right.

Those books will live on.

zingally · 09/05/2013 20:26

Nope. I'd think the parents were morons. Sorry.

CheesyPoofs · 09/05/2013 21:19

I know a Will and Grace, but that show's out of date now so it doesn't really matter. Charlie and Lola is too current.

Mamafratelli · 09/05/2013 21:22

I know a Max and Ruby and snigger to myself every time I think about the tv programme and that is nowhere near as famous as Charlie and Lola.

Tillyscoutsmum · 09/05/2013 21:29

I know a Charlie & Lola (5 and 2). I judged when I met them Shock

JennyMakkers · 09/05/2013 21:52

I wouldn't. Hers will be Lola and Charlie but stilllllllllll. Maybe maybe if she had another child in between and then (maybe) had a 3rd called Charlie then that would be ok.

intheshed · 09/05/2013 22:13

I think the programme and the books are so popular (and fab) they will live on, sorry!

squoosh · 09/05/2013 22:14

It would be like having a Bert and Ernie or a Jack and Jill.

GW297 · 09/05/2013 23:09

Don't do it!!!

VodkaRevelation · 10/05/2013 17:36

I'd think "Oh, like the book/tv character" and then think nothing more of it.

Does it really matter. People might ask if the books/ show are why they chose the names and they can say "No, we just liked them both."

Why would anyone mock? That'd just be rude and immature surely.

shoobidoo · 10/05/2013 22:22

She's right! I wouldn't do it!

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 12/05/2013 13:10

I know a Ben and Holly!
They're early teens though, so the elves and fairies came later.

I would avoid Charlie and Lola I think.
