Inspiration please

Really need some inspiration. My daughter is due in a matter of weeks and deciding a name for her has been the most difficult task. I want something not too popular but not too zany either. My son is called Alfie and although I love his name as he's named after my grandfather I despair now at how many little boys have the same name. So could people suggest any girls names that they think are pretty and also go with Alfie?

My mother in law likes Alice, Eleanor or bella. We had a baby niece called Ellie who passed away at birth so I don't want to use any names like Ellie which could upset her parents so eleanor, Ellie, Ella or even bella I think are out. It's so hard to take everything into consideration.

I liked the name Indi for a girl but my DH hates it but won't tell me what he likes :-/

I love Alice.

baskingseals · 28/04/2013 08:41

what about India?

Stella8234 · 28/04/2013 08:42

And my grandma likes the name Annie because it was her mothers name. She also likes Maisie and Melanie but I'm not keen on either of those. I had thought about Beatrice after my grandma but she asked me to promise not to use it cos she thinks it's a horrible name. My other grandma is called carnation which I'm not keen on and my DH's grandma was called jemima but got called bunty. Not sure if I should go down the route of using a family name. I know my DH says with our son being named after my grandfather it would be nice if we could take his families suggestions into consideration :-/

i think Carnation is actually quite cool, but can see why you are not sure about using it. do you like any other flower names? , that could then be a link to your Grandma.

what about

Poppy

Daisy

Zinnia
you could also combine Annie and Rose and use Rosanna which i think is a beautiful name.

Other suggestions I have had is:
Emily
Heidi
Lily
Ebony
Scarlett
Imogen
Jayde
Darcey
Evie
Daisy
What do people think of these names?

Love Jemima! Goes really well with Alfie.

Stella8234 · 28/04/2013 08:53

I just haven't heard a name which I think is special enough for my little girl but I'm thinking perhaps I never will, maybe my expectations are too high. People keep telling me whatever I pick she will hate it one day but I've never felt that way about my own name so I think if I pick well she will be happy
