Found out today that DC3 is a boy. I was convinced it was a girl and the name we agreed on was Molly.

We have DSD Lilly, DS Jack and DD Alexandra.

I like Charlie, Henry and Noah. DP likes Montgomery, Mercutio ( I think he's trying to wind me up) and Hemmingway!

Should I hit him with blunt objects until he can suggest sensible names? Or ltb or hope you lot can help us out with some ideas?

Charlie, Henry and Monty are lovely. Charlie is really popular around here if popularity is an issue.

Kyrptonite · 26/04/2013 21:56

I'm not overly fussed by popularity. I was worried by how popular Jack is but I only know one other under 5

Don't ltb, he's a keeper just for having those fab ideas!

Some more in similar veins,

Trad British; William, Thomas, Arthur, Rufus, Hugo, Edward

Shakespearean; Sebastian, Tybalt, Benedict, Banquo, Orlando

Biblical; Elijah, Joshua, Jonas, Reuben,Adam, Luke, Samuel

Montgomery is a great name and Monty a cute nickname. Mercutio - never heard of it but it sounds Spanish/Latin to my ears.

Charlie, Henry and Noah are very widely used already but there's nothing wrong with them, just a little dull/overused. Depends how popular your surname is.

scaevola · 26/04/2013 22:02

I like Montgomery! And Charlie and Henry. Less keen on the others.

Some others to inspire you (and keep you away from blunt objects): Hugo, Anthony/Antonio/Anton, Thierry, Gregory, Maxim, Jerome, Bartholomew, Daniel, Joshua, Simeon, Ferdinand, Benvolio?

MummyBurrows · 26/04/2013 23:27

If you think Mercutio and Hemmingway are bad/wind ups,my dh keeps trying to talk me into calling our dc-if a boy-Sparticus or Julius Ceasar!! And the sad part is that he's actually being serious....

I like Charlie off your list and (runs for cover) Mercutio from your dps list, but only because I love Romeo + Juliet...can't say I'd use it in RL though...I'm nowhere near that brave!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 27/04/2013 00:45

OP I was wondering about Winston or George. Monty is another name I think requires a big personality. Following a Shakespearean theme, agree with earlier suggestions about Benedict or Anthony. Or how about Oliver, Robin or Morgan?

MummyBurrows see if you can suggest to your DH the names of the hero of the film "Gladiator" with a straight face:
Maximus Decimus Meridius.

LittleMissLucy · 27/04/2013 02:12

Miles
Milo
Moses
Mischa

Clearly I'm going on the Molly for boy, theme. Monty I don't know about, Uncle Monty?

MummyBurrows · 27/04/2013 02:16

Donkeys DH has repeatedly suggested that one too! He would genuinely call our child that if we had a boy and if I'd let him! Think I might have to give the men in white coats a call soon lol!

Ouchmyhead · 27/04/2013 02:59

Isaac
Reuben
George
Tristan
Benjamin
Oscar
Elliot
Ashley

I love Henry from your list, Charlie and Noah are really really popular here so I'd (personally) avoid them, but that all depends on where you live as well I guess!

hellokitty124 · 27/04/2013 08:03

How about
Dominic
Quentin
Reuben

MortifiedAdams · 27/04/2013 08:13

Samuel / Sam

fussychica · 27/04/2013 14:24

Yes hit him with a blunt instrumentGrin - I hate Monty but I can see it's the IN boys name on here along with, the equally awful, Wilf.
Your names are great.

Alternatively, you've been given some great names by other MNetters.

Or how about Aiden, Torrin, Luca, Marcus, Daniel?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2013 19:26

Love Noah and Montgomery. I was in a cafe with a small Tibalt the other day - I'm afraid that I just thought he had pretentious muppets for parents, so if your dh really does like Mercutio, you will need the blunt objects.

Tristan is lovely.

mumtolilh · 27/04/2013 22:22

Noah & Henry are lovely! They are popular but that's fine! I actually really like monty it's so cute!
Go on most hated baby names list where you will find names like tristan braylen Bentley & those sort of names! Popular is fine but tacky is not (just my opinion)
It took me months to think of my sons name you will just find the perfect name & it will stick & remember its up to you as long as you like it :)

Jnote · 27/04/2013 22:33

I actually quite like Hemmingway!

Kyrptonite · 27/04/2013 22:35

It's growing on me Blush
