Phebe?

Heard of this name the other day and thinking of for my baby if a girl. DH says he thinks the parents just didn't know how to spell Phoebe. Do you think he is right?

According to Google, Phebe is a variant of Phoebe. It is a lovely name, but my choice would be to go with the classic spelling.

Even worse, I came across a Phoebe spelled as Febe. Hideous. Spell it properly!

It does look like a typo.
But then I have a Phoebe, and have seen her name misspelled as Phebe, phoeboe and fiby.
Sigh.

I love the name phoebe it is my all-time favourite name but shame on the people who assume a person is "thick" because they've used a varient form of a name.
Phebe is an English varient of the Greek name Phoebe. Phebe means "shining one" and im sure was used in shakespears play 'As you like it' I think she was a shepardess- its been a while since my English literature days! And Yes most people use the spelling Phoebe however Phebe is a varient just as there a varients for many other names as they move across continents and time.

I love phoebe. I don't really like phebe but only because it looks like its been misspelt. Even though it is a name in its own right, I would worry that people would think that I just couldn't spell and that, unfortunately, would bother me!

I have a Phebe, I hate that 'o', it just bugs the hell out of me and no one knows where to put it so you constantly see people writing Pheobe.

In the 1611 King James Bible it's spelt Phebe

And to those who think if you take out the 'o' it would change the pronunciation, have you never heard of a split vowel digraph?

Finally my Phebe and I do not get in any way agitated about random 'o's, they do crop up when people first get to know her and it's no big deal, just like I had to learn there is no 'h' in Aisling.
