Albert or Hector?

Struggling with boys' names! We have chosen Greta Mabel for a girl, which we both love. What do you think of Albert and Hector? My DSs are Finn and Louis.

Love Hector.

But tbh I don't think either of them go terribly well with the other two - they have a v different feel.

Bowlersarm · 21/04/2013 15:24

Really like Finn and Louis, lovely names. I don't like Albert but I do like Hector, although lots of MNers will come on and tell you not to use it because of it's meaning Smile.

pygmy · 21/04/2013 15:29

I think Hector goes well with both Finn (Finlay) and Louis as it has both a Scottish and French feel to it. Trying to convince my partner; he is insisting on Edgar!

I prefer Albert but think that Hector sounds best with your other ds's names.

Albert, without a second thought. Hector, I'm sorry to say Blush , makes me think of a cartoon dog.

thermalsinapril · 21/04/2013 17:08

Albert

Kittykatmacbill · 21/04/2013 17:15

Hector is great!

ElizaDoLots · 21/04/2013 17:16

What does Hector mean?

Dominodonkey · 21/04/2013 17:18

I think it would be very cruel to your child to give them either name when the others are called Louis and Finn. They are both very cool names but Hector and Albert are weird and old fashioned. I am amazed that you like both tbh.

buttercrumble · 21/04/2013 17:21

Albert

ENormaSnob · 21/04/2013 19:04

Hector

MrsHiddleston · 21/04/2013 19:12

Isn't there a 'horrible hector'? Is it in Thomas the Tank Engine?

I'd go with Albert.

Viviennemary · 21/04/2013 19:17

Albert by miles. Hector is just awful. Surely nobody would call their child that.

ShadowStorm · 21/04/2013 21:23

Albert.

Not Hector because of it's meaning as a word (verb - to bully or torment; noun - a blustering bully)

QuantitativePleasing · 21/04/2013 22:15

Hector is lovely

AgnesBligg · 21/04/2013 22:22

Hector, geeky in a wonderful way.

Hector is brilliant, love it.

Mahls · 22/04/2013 21:15

Well DS2 is Hector and I love it. But I like Albert too and it is one of his middle names....

kilmuir · 22/04/2013 21:17

neither. Don't 'go' with the brothers names, does that matter?

cinnamonbun · 23/04/2013 09:40

I prefer Albert. Really don't like Hector, it immediately brings to mind 'to heckle' plus it's such a 'hard' sounding name iyswim. What about Victor?

pygmy · 23/04/2013 09:59

Thanks everyone. I'm leaning towards Hector. Hector Ivo. Have to convince DP now!

Hector Ivo - what a great name. So long as your surname doesn't start with a V, of course.
