Does it definitely sound like a girls' name? Do you know any, and if so, what do they shorten it to/use as a nickname, if at all?

Thank you :)

It reminds me of the dog food, Arden Grange.

Sorry, you did ask.

Laquila · 20/04/2013 09:47

MargratGarlik! I love those books.

Never heard of Arden Grange but thanks for your response anyway.

It reminds me of Flash Gordon - "Dale Arden, Journalist, New York Times"

Pendipidy · 20/04/2013 09:59

I like it, twas on my list for a girl. Cos of one of my favourite songs written by Jann arden.

CautionaryWhale · 20/04/2013 10:06

Why did Elisabeth Arden?
Because Max Factor...

getting my coat

thermalsinapril · 20/04/2013 10:38

It sounds like a boys name to me, along the same lines as Aidan.

plainbellysneetch · 20/04/2013 10:45

We considered Arden for a girl. Eleven years on, it sounds more masculine to me than it did then, if that's any use.

MotherOfNations · 20/04/2013 10:51

It sounds more masculine to me. I've never met any as I live in Glasgow and Arden is the name of a very run down area here.

PoppadomPreach · 20/04/2013 10:51

Sounds masculine to me.

Also sounds a bit like "hard on" so could encourage teasing.

Stripedsocksarecool · 20/04/2013 11:53

I like it. My friend has just used it for her daughters middle name. They are very outdoors people and named her after a forest.

Wolfcub · 20/04/2013 12:27

sorry it's too much associated with dog food for me too

almostanotherday · 20/04/2013 12:27

I would of said boys name.

iclaudius · 20/04/2013 12:35

Ds has a boy Ardon in his class

scaevola · 20/04/2013 12:42

Far too like 'hard on' I think.

MrsJohnDeere · 20/04/2013 12:43

Dog food to me

Sounds more boy then girl

KB02 · 20/04/2013 12:51

I think it's lovely but I think it sounds more like a boy's name. It makes me think of the forest of Arden where Shakespeare set some plays (I think ).

Mehrida · 20/04/2013 12:57

My first thought was, middle name Elizabeth?

And then I read Whale's post, which put it much more succinctly.

Sorry!

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2013 13:10

Ripe for teenage teasing.
