Girls:

Jemima
Penelope
Viola
Lyra

Boys:

George
Arthur
Benjamin
Robin

Which ones would you pick? And, if you're feeling particularly generous, why?

Are there any others you could suggest based on my likes above?

No idea how that happened...Confused

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 20/04/2013 09:41

George Arthur and Benjamin are all quite a bit more popular than Robin if that matters to you either way?

People will often pronounce Viola wrong, if that matters to you!

I like them all. Nice names.

Hassled · 20/04/2013 09:42

Viola and Arthur. Lovely names.

Viviennemary · 20/04/2013 09:47

Jemima - not keen
Penelope - yes
Viola - nice
Lyra- don't like

George - Ok
Arthur - Not keen
Benjamin - OK
Robin - don't like at all

Other names Philip, Violet, Iris.

MrsJohnDeere · 20/04/2013 12:45

Girls names not my cup of tea. Like Lyra best though.

Love Robin and George. Like Arthur.

NymphadoraTonks · 20/04/2013 13:01

I love Robin, I wish I could use it for any future boys I may have, but our surname is Wood. Just won't work ;)

fussychica · 20/04/2013 17:58

Lyra & Ben

DebK2012 · 20/04/2013 17:59

. Q

Exhaustipated · 20/04/2013 18:06

Lovely names.

How would you pronounce Viola?

The only ones I don't love are George (v popular, big boring dare I say it) and Jemima (not sure why... Puddleduck?!)

Still18atheart · 20/04/2013 18:23

Jemima - if you can put up with the puddleduck jokes i quite like it
Penelope - love
Viola - violin
Lyra - lycra

Boys:

George - love
Arthur - quite like it
Benjamin - love
Robin - meh

Ikeameatballs · 20/04/2013 18:25

Penelope and Arthur

frogchops · 21/04/2013 20:00

Jemima IMO is your best girls name followed by Lyra (altho I read Lycra to start with :-/)
I prefer Ben to Benjamin but its the best there. My DP loves robin but I hate it shortened to rob. If you can deal with this then its ok.
Why about Thea, Faith, Esme?
Toby, frankie?

ShadowStorm · 21/04/2013 21:30

Penelope and Arthur. I also like Benjamin and George.

Jemima just makes me think Jemima Puddleduck.

CruCru · 21/04/2013 22:47

Viola - provided the emphasis is on the Vi (Sharespearean character) not the o - string instrument. Like Jemima too - obvious how to spell and pronounce it.

ellesabe · 22/04/2013 21:58

Girls:

Jemima - the best name ever
Penelope - I also love this
Viola - Quite nice
Lyra - Not as keen

Other names along the same lines...Felicity, Verity, Ramona, Sienna?

Boys:

George - I would use as a middle name
Arthur - Excellent name. Would have been on our list if it didn't sound daft with our surname.
Benjamin - Meh
Robin - I love this but can't stand nn Rob. Would this bother you?

Other names along the same lines...Dominic, Henry, Edward, Felix?

ellesabe · 22/04/2013 21:59

By the way, my Jemima has only had the Puddleduck comment once in 2.5 years. Don't let it put you off!

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/04/2013 22:07

Girls:

Jemima ... Unsure of this , the puddleduck is too obvious I think
Penelope ... Quite like this , pretty name , easy to shorten
Viola .. Love this , very sweet and pretty
Lyra ... No . It's awful

Maybe Gemma ? Lucinda ?

Boys:

George.. Love this (my son is George )
Arthur.. From Eastenders ?
Benjamin ... Lovely , good strong name
Robin .. Love this too .

Maybe Michael ? Andrew ?

HopefullA · 25/04/2013 12:41

Love love love Jemima - Lyra reminds me so lycra - Sorry!!
LOve Bejamin too - not a fan of Robin for a boy to be honest.
How about Albert or bertie

MadameJosephine · 25/04/2013 15:37

Love Lyra, not keen on the other 3 girls names. Prefer Violet to Viola. How about Iris or Jennifer?

George or Arthur are both lovely. Not keen in Benjamin and Robin is more of a girls name to me.
