It's dreadful. I used to go to school with a Marvin, he was always getting into fights over it. His parents seemed so middle of the road. I used to look at them and think "what the fuck induced you to call him that?"

How are posts saying "I used to go to school/work with a Marvin" helpful anyway? Every name has different associations for different people, would you REALLY be put off by a name you like because some random person on the internet went to school with someone of that name who they happened to dislike? Bizarre!

Maybe I don't belong in this section.

Marvin the Martian, or Starvin' Marvin, depending on your generation...

Personally, I wouldn't - though you could hold out hope that the millennials will have different associations!
