I like this name but DH needs to be convinced. Any thoughts?

Florian is a Male German name. I quite like it

Think it is old money/ coin, though is also currency of Aruba.
Did you mean Florin or Florian?
If you meant Florin, where did you get the idea, and is there a special reason you'd like to use it?

I prefer florian
Florin sounds a bit like ' foreign'

I love it, but then I'm a huge fan of The Princess Bride!

Nanny0gg · 17/04/2013 08:19

Just makes me think of the old 2-shilling piece.

I think of the old currency/money, too - it also sounds too feminine for a boys name, IMO.

Thirstysomething · 17/04/2013 13:45

Reminds me of the Princess Bride.
it is a boys name isn't it? would it be a bit girly? I knew a Dorian growing up and he was teased rotten

Thanks for all your thoughts, it's really helped.

I have an old school friend who's daughter is Florin and it just really suits her. I'd never heard the name before and having a really common name myself fancy something a little more uncommon but not to out there.

I may keep looking, DH isn't convinced and we still have plenty of time before DC is here.
