Not long to go and we still don't have THE name.

I like names that are unusual or not heard very often, but aren't really wacky and out there.
I like virtue names but I think probably 2 virtue names would be overkill.
I don't like Milly/Molly sing-songy type names (if that makes sense)
I don't like names that are nicknames or sound like they could be short for something else.

So far we have come up with Lydia which sort of fits all the above but I don't feel as "totally sold" as I did with Verity.

I am open to any and all suggestions! thanks for your time :))

My daughter's middle name is Verity. I like it. I love the name Imogen, the only reason dd 2 isn't called Imogen is because Big Brother had Imogen Thomas in it.

Well I've run every one of the names I liked from your lists through DH and they've all been vetoed (Juliet, Lois, Celeste, Helena, Thea, Lilian, Eliza, Beatrice and Astrid). I will keep working on him.

Imogen is insanely popular where we live so I had to rule that out too.

DH is sticking with Felicity and Lydia. He doesn't agree that Felicity is too similar to Verity... he thinks I'm being daft about the virtue thing... and he says she'd get called "Flick" anyway Hmm.

Nymbler is great!

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

My cousin is a verity and people often mis-hear it as felicity - I think naming your two DDs Verity and Felicity would be too similar to be honest!

How about isobel (or Ishbel for a less common alternative), that goes well.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/04/2013 22:28

I desperately wanted Verity for dd2 but DH wouldn't budge. It still makes me sad :(

Anyway, DD1 is Harriet and our runner up name, although we didn't use it in the end, was Lydia. We ended up with Alice.
