Both lovely names. I like them both the same.

BoyMeetsWorld · 11/04/2013 12:47

Mairead at the moment just makes me think of that Philpott woman im afraid. Esme is nice though

almapudden · 11/04/2013 12:49

I love Esme. Really dislike Mairead, sorry!

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail · 11/04/2013 12:49

I'd say there will be very negative associations to Mairead tbh.

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail · 11/04/2013 12:49

I love Esme btw.

SneezySnatcher · 11/04/2013 12:54

As above, Mairead makes me think of Philpott.

Esme is lovely.

CashmereHoodlum · 11/04/2013 12:58

Mairead makes me think of Mairead Farrell, but having said that I do know a Mairead and I don't associate the two iyswim.

Esme is very popular at the moment. I prefer Mairead.

AmberSocks · 11/04/2013 12:59

Mairead reminds me of philpott too sorry!Esme is lovely but v popular because of twilight x

itsnothingoriginal · 11/04/2013 13:00

It's a shame about the Philpott connection as Mairead is a pretty name. How about Merryn?

Like Esme but getting just a little bit weary of it - I know loads now!

I agree,I'm afraid Mairead has been ruined for the moment.

Esme is lovely.

TobyLerone · 11/04/2013 16:49

Esme is DD's name. I must have got in before the rush -- I don't know any other Esmes and her name is still often commented on because it is unusual and pretty. She's 12.

She's definitely Ez-mee, though. She loathes Ez-may, as do I.

thermalsinapril · 11/04/2013 16:59

Mairead.

Not keen on Esme, the "ezz" sound is harsh.

monniemae · 11/04/2013 17:05

I love Mairead, it's on my shortlist. Not arsed about woman in the news - you've no control over what might happen post-birth in the news, there may be an Esme to out-horror Mairead.

You're not naming the baby AFTER Mairead Philpott...

cozyup · 11/04/2013 17:55

Very diffrrent.
Any siblings?

BadSpellersUntie · 11/04/2013 17:58

Both pretty dreary but you're mad to even consider mairead

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/04/2013 18:00

Love Mairead. I know a few of them and have always loved it.

ReluctantlyBeingYoniMassaged · 11/04/2013 18:02

Esme is lovely. Mairead is awful, even without recent events.

ilikeyoursleeves · 11/04/2013 18:24

It's not for my own child, a friend of mine was asking what I thought of them for her child. I think Philpott too TBH but she loves it!

Love love love Esme.

I had not at all associated Mairead with the Philpott woman until posters mentioned it, but I just don't like the name at all. Esme is so much nicer!

shellyf · 11/04/2013 19:58

Esme
