Aeva?

Any thoughts on this for a little girl?
I had originally thought I like Anya but it seems so many others are called that already.
Our son is called josh, so it wld be Josh and Aeva.

If its a boy - I'm thinking of Samay.
What does everyone think of that?

I know a little Icelandic girl called Æva (selt like that).

But I think Aeva is very pretty and unusual, but not too weird, but still kind f unique?

I don't really like Samay, I like Sam/Sam,y (although not Samuel) but its hard t explain why?

Love Aeva, goes really well with Josh imo. Dont like Samay.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 10/04/2013 00:11

They both sound like made up names to me. Don't like either. Sorry.

JellyBellyMummy11 · 10/04/2013 00:16

Aeva is a variant of Ava and Samay is an Indian name meaning Time.

Any suggestions for a boy, that goes with Josh? I'm slowly going off Samay too I think...

We are Indian but not overly traditional in terms of name choices!!

I'd go with Ava - unless you're happy to be constantly correcting the spelling, explaining the origin etc.

Samay is great, it makes a change from Samuel, and Sam is nice for short.

thermalsinapril · 10/04/2013 00:20

How about Samir?

Agree with NatashaBee re Aeva. I like Samay but think it sounds quite feminine.

JellyBellyMummy11 · 10/04/2013 19:21

Thanks for t thoughts everyone.

So Samay seems more popular than I expected...how would you pronounce it? I'm conscious that its similar to Sammy but its pronunciation is obv quite diff...

Never thought Aeva seems misspelt but yeh now that its been mentioned, I see it. But dunno, I still quite like t quirkiness of it...

Where does the spelling aeva come from? It looks made up

JellyBellyMummy11 · 12/04/2013 19:17

Not quite sure where it's from, it's a variant of Ava. I only know one other Aeva...

Your child will forever be saying 'that's Ava with an e!'

MummyBurrows · 12/04/2013 23:55

I read Samay as Sa-may not Sammy but not sure if that's right? Also am I right to assume aeva is Ava or,is it Eva or neither of those? I've never seen that name before so no idea how its meant to sound.... I think that Coen makes a nice name to go with Josh....depends on what you like though and what your tastes are I guess. Samay does sound good though and I don't think it sounds feminine at all :) xx

JellyBellyMummy11 · 17/04/2013 21:32

Hmmm...I still really like Aeva, but ppl don't seem as keen on it.
A new suggestion which Is growing on me is Reeva...or Riva. (I know...Oscar pistorias is t first thing that came to my mind too, but shld that stop us using an otherwise pretty name?!?)

Thoughts??

Ava, Eva, Eve or Anya all nice. Aeva will be misspelled for her whole life! In fact' my iPad doesn't like it and has underlined it in red. All the other 4 names have been accepted by the iPad. The iPad actually suggests Eva instead Grin
