I'd pronounce it 'raf i elle'. It's a beautiful and elegant name and would, I think, go very well with a french surname.

thegreylady · 08/04/2013 21:27

Raf-ay-ell

It's a lovely name in French, pronounced the same as Raphael.

formicaqueen · 09/04/2013 23:35

nice.

deleted203 · 09/04/2013 23:49

Raf - I - Elle...(although personally I clicked on the link thinking, 'oooh...female teenage mutant ninja turtle Grin

Still18atheart · 09/04/2013 23:55

I actually really like it especially with a French Surname. Plus it's got that little bit different factor which is a bonus

BoyMeetsWorld · 10/04/2013 07:22

Thanks everyone, more positive than I'd expected Smile

Haha we don't really mind the female ninja turtle connotation - DS would love it!!!

Only concern was is it too masculine & people will think she's a boy on paper? Do you prefer it as Raphaella?

I love it. It woulda been a contender but DP's cousin got there first.

BoyMeetsWorld · 10/04/2013 09:12

Oooh how has your DP's cousin found the response to the name (if you know)?

I think you might find some people initially being surprised it was a girl, but then with a French heritage, they should soon get to grips with it.

I also like Raffaella very much.

ZolaBuddleia · 10/04/2013 16:05

I love it. I'd pronounce the male version as Raff-ay-ul and the female as Raff-eye-ell. No idea why the middle syllable changes for me, but it does! Blush

fussychica · 10/04/2013 17:07

Lovely - how about Inez as a middle name?

ZolaBuddleia · 10/04/2013 17:47

Ah, I love the look of Inez. Is it Innez, Inness, Eyenez?
