When I say the name I say Finley but unsure of which is more common. Or then there is Finlee/Finleigh or am I thinking to much about it?

FinDlay!

I'd say Findlay too, from a Scottish perspective though, failing which, Finlay.

Findlay/Finlay

Finlay gets my vote

I have a finley.... Well hes finn now :)
I chose finley rather than finlay.. Mainly because were not really scottish ( ds is 1/2 english , 1/4 irish and 1/4 scottish) and i wanted it to be finlee rather than finlay and i knew that here down south ppl would pronounce it " lay" if it was spelt like that.

I have a finnley, we never discussed the spelling and both just saw it in out heads like that so stuck with it.. Smile

Locketjuice · 09/04/2013 08:34

If not that it would have been Findlay.. Only because my dad looked puzzled when I suggested spelling it any other way so I just thought everyone is probably thinking like him Smile

Finlay is the traditional Scottish first name spelling, Findlay is the surname spelling. I am scottish but dh is from overseas so we went with Finley to avoid the Fin-lay pronunciation, we call him Fin-lee.
