I'm expecting my second son in May and the only name we have is Artie. Arthur is my grandfather but we are planning just to use this on the birth certificate and use Artie/Art (unless he decides to be Arthur when he is older). What do you think? I can't discuss this with friends or family so asking you guys.

Don't want to be too way out there with a name but like different names. Our other son is called Luca so it would be Luca and Artie.

It's fine! Very sweet :)

My personal feeling is that Luca and Arthur/Artie don't 'go' together as brothers names: Luca is quite young and exotic to my ears whereas Arthur/Artie is softer, sweeter and more 'old'. But, if names not 'matching' doesn't bother you, then it's just fine.

Artie/Archie/Alfie have all become very trendy and are likely to date as they fall out of favour. I'm not that keen, sorry.

I do understand about Alfie/Archie/Alfie. I love Alfie still but have gone off Archie. I suppose we thought Artie could become Art when older or even Arthur (which being regal will no doubt make a bigger come back).

The only other name we've ever agreed on is Finley. A friend's son has the same name though and while she has said we can use it, we feel a bit weird doing so which is why Artie is the only name on the list!

Girl's names seem so much easier but maybe that's only because we are definitely having a boy!!

Love Artie, but not keen on Arthur. Agree that Archie and Alfie are very popular. We have loads of Finlay's round here too (both boys and girls).

I love Arthur and Artie. Luca and Artie are gorgeous and go so well together. Go for it. And congratulations.

Thanks for your honest opinions everyone. I may come back nearer the D day but at the moment I think we will carry on trialling the bumps name as Artie. Positive and negative comments are good. We will still have Finley on the list too unless anyone has other suggestions

I love Art, Artie feels a bit twee to my ears, and I'm normally a fan of diminutives.

Do you think Artie Farty could be a problem?!! Does anyone know any Arthur/Artie's? Perhaps by school the full name would be used anyway though I think Artie works on someone older too
