Nickname Rose (light-hearted)

We have a little baby called Alexandra. We frequently call her "Rose" as she is sweet and beautiful like a little pink rose. I'm worried though that she'll get confused about her name when she's a bit older. Should we stop calling her that?

My dd's middle name is grace, and I'm always calling her Gracie, she knows it isn't her first name, just a nickname, the same way I call her cherub or pickle, or whatever else comes to mind!

Workingtoohard - Rose is not her middle name :-))

Ah, but it doesn't matter what you call her, I honestly call my dc such a variety of names, her middle name is one of a huge selection, and they answer to them all - although I probably sound a bit mad to anyone listening!

The reasoning behind your 'rose' is really sweet, I think your dd will love you telling her about it when she's older.

I was called moon monkey until I was 6. I always knew it wasn't my name. Don't worry about Rose, it's such a cute nickname!

My daughter is 'monkey'. So is the dog. I can see this may get confusing in the future! Confused
Don't worry about the nickname, every child has them. Smile

Most children have a swathe of parental nicknames. It's lovely - don't worry that she won't know her actual name. :)

DS answers to Monster, Mister, Snuggle Buggle, Wriggler, Big Boy, as well as his name!

My dd who's 10 is called Pearl (because she is small and precious Grin) but her real name is Lucy. She answers to them both, she knows what her real name is but is also aware that Pearl is what we have called her from just days after she was born. She was never confused even when she was just a toddler.

We called our DD 'Dilly'. Cant remember why, she is nearly 15 and an Olivia.
