Love it but has it become the Jane/Louise of this generation?

I think Rose, May/Mae and Grace tie for the Louise of this generation.

pootlebug · 29/03/2013 19:23

I think they are all lovely names though....just v popular middle names

Ham69 · 29/03/2013 19:23

It's very pretty but very predictable these days, along with Grace and May/Mae. Use it if you love it, but i'd probably try and be a bit more original.

Yes, but it is a beautiful first name.

flowerygirl · 29/03/2013 19:31

I was considering Roisin instead of Rose as I love that too.

Rose is such a beautiful name though, might just have to accept it's popularity! It's not like it's a first name!

Yeah, it kinda has. I handle a lot of people's personal data as an administrator and see the same middle names over and over - Louise, Jane, Anne/Ann, Elizabeth; it is boring. Middle names should have some meaning to you personally, otherwise what's the point?

Varya · 29/03/2013 19:34

I think its a lovely middle name. There is a little girl named Sofia Rose in my family and I like it.

Still18atheart · 29/03/2013 19:40

It depends what the first name is. My middle name is Louise and I agree that it is a common middle name, but I have a fairly uncommon first name and surname so I quite like it

Yellowtip · 29/03/2013 19:44

I have a Georgia Rose (in her twenties and named after the Georgia National Guard). Rose is a beautiful middle name. I also have a Sophie Louise (named after Louisville, where she was in a NICU).

nectarini1983 · 29/03/2013 19:44

Yes!

VerySmallSqueak · 29/03/2013 19:45

If you love it,use it.
It's a lovely name- middle or otherwise.

Rose is beautiful, I'd go with it

JugglingFromHereToThere · 29/03/2013 19:52

I think it's beautiful and glad it's made such a comeback recently.
One of my great-great grandmothers was called Rose - I think she had 12 children (one of them my Grandpa's Father) I'd love to suggest it for a grandchild one day - for either first or middle name, especially as DD has a flower name too [busmile]

Rosa also lovely.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 29/03/2013 20:00

My great great grandmother Rose went out to Canada with her three youngest sons and helped them to build their log cabins & her daughters-in-law having their first babies. We've got pictures of her alongside her boys next to felled trees practically with saw in hand !

EeyoresGloomyPlace · 29/03/2013 20:05

Its beautiful. I'm biased because its dd2s middle name. Also by coincidence one of my DSis's too. We used it because we asked mil if she would like to chose her middle name, seeing as dd1 shares mine and my DM's (coincidentally another very very common one) it is DH's nan's middle name so although people might scoff at it being "boring" and "predictable" it actually means a lot to us.

Basically if you love a name use it, sod what anyone else thinks.

OutragedFromLeeds · 29/03/2013 20:11

Yes and I think it is the Louise of this generation. I think every other girl under 5 I know has Rose either as a first name, as the second bit of a double barrelled first name or as a middle name. In one singing group we go to there is; Connie-Rose, Izzy-Rose, Ivy-Rose, Rose, Rose and Rosie. The 'hello' song is so boring.

Nordicmom · 29/03/2013 20:17

Very common as a middle name but I have yet to ever meet anyone who has it as first name . I Have a nearly 1y Rose and it was in the top 100 in around 90 something recently . I love it :)! If u love it use it !

CPtart · 29/03/2013 20:20

Yes, no doubt about it. I know a newborn Rosa, prefer that tbh.

Bue · 29/03/2013 20:22

Yes very boring. It's a filler name. Shame, because it's beautiful!

AmandaPayntedEgg · 29/03/2013 21:35

Yes it is very common. But I have one of those 70s filler names that people are so negative about and I quite like it. I have an unusual first name and my parents intentionally gave me something straightforward to fall back on if I hated my first name.

If you have loved a name your whole life (as I have my DD's middle name), you shouldn't care whether it's common. It doesn't much matter. It's not like it will be in every hello song and class register.

flowerygirl · 29/03/2013 21:42

My middle name is Jane and although I don't like it, it follows well after my first name which has lots of syllables!

I would like to honour a relative, Joyce, but is that too grannified?! She never liked her name so I don't know if it defeats the point?!
